Hunter
I love thinking of things that could make me rich.. I have come up with plenty of ideas and designs, everything from Parachutes to insulated mugs. Whats your best invention, and do you think it would sell? Markio
You designed the parachute? Wow, how old are you? I'm afraid i couldn't think of an invention, i couldn't even think of a trade that i wanted to get into when i left school. I'm 31 and still don't know. berettaman1
I love thinking of things that could make me rich.. I have come up with plenty of ideas and designs, everything from Parachutes to insulated mugs. Whats your best invention, and do you think it would sell? The only problem to making insulated mugs is, if its to stop burning your hands when holding it, then the danger is burning your lips when raising it to your mouth!! Over the years I have invented ash trays for motorbikes, spare wheels for submarines, and other high tech, devices!! allas, none have ever took off, much like the lead balloon which was I thought a good idea!!. Dunkield
Not really an invention as such, but when I was doing my apprenticeship I had an idea about replacing the front suspension setup on MG Midgets. I had one at the time that I had modiifed the engine and brakes on it, but couldn't do much with the front suspension. If anyone knows about MG Midget and MGB etc the front suspension is pretty dire, based round lever arms. Anyway, I did all the drawings and as I was only 18 at the time I just couldn't afford to get a prototype machined up. I am not sure if I could ever have sold the idea to anyone, but years later I saw the almost indenical setup on a Midget as a race meeting, so you never know. Poacher
I invented a chocolate kettle, left handed screwdriver and a hand brake for a canoe, one day we'll be mill yonaires
paulos
I thought of an idea ages ago for car park ticket machines that could be operated from your mobile in case you haven't got any change or if you wanted a bit longer once you had left it. Did nothing about it. Someone else then came up with it and it seems to have taken off quite well. My Great-Grandad was a bit of an inventor as well, came up with the first underwater breathing aparatus for escaping from sinking submarines, never saw a penny though. Daft old sod.
twelvebore
You seriously think that I'm going to publish my ideas, inventions and gadgets which never got to the patent office... too expensive,,, dream on. Same goes for the hot shooting spots, the best pools when I'm fishing, or the flights of geese which pass over here every evening. I'm going to publish on an open forum and destroy my own sport Not in a million years.

Grumpy so and so.. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Cheers for your replies guys. When I mentioned the parachute, I came up with a design to avoid tangling of the cords, by using a special membrane with the cords atatched. this way the cords have less chance of tangling. Pretty sure this design already exists

Cranfield
I once new a chap who "invented" things all the time, although most of them were really variations/"improvements" on existing items. He was always sending stuff off to the Patents Office and to companies trying to get them interested. As far as I know, he never had anything accepted, nor made any money out of it. However, he spent a lot of time and money, on what was really an obsession.

Lost Magpie
I've got a cracking one what I've been meaning to do something about for years and this thread has just reminded me, so simple it's sickening and every mother with a new born baby will use it....it's a god send. Anyone got any advice regarding going about this type of thing? TIA

Axe
Old man once said to me the way to make real money is to invent something. Spent hours pondering this and eventually came up with device to measure the axle weight on lorries etc I then later added to it with the introduction of LED's and born the idea that these could be used in place of light bulbs on trailors etc to cure the problem of bad earths and lost voltage. Unfortunately, he never told his young son how to produce working models and get them into the public domain. How stupid do I feel now.
