TIGHTCHOKE
Well would you Adam and Eve it? Retrospective planning permission refused. https://www.aol.co.uk/news/homeowner-ordered-tear-down-monster-105320931.html
Dave-G
Hmm, on the face of it, given the original dwelling had a garage on the side the new build seems a similar overall ground size to if the garage was replaced with a two story extension. mel b3
It'll probably drag on through the courts for a couple of years , then it'll be quietly forgotten about . The exact same situation happened not too far from here . The guy is still living in the house 20years later.
rovercoupe
Looking at the quality of the brickwork it will fall down of its own accord soon.

fern01
The poor guy in the next door semi must have had a pretty rough time when they demolished the adjoining house

"Frank Whiteley, senior planning enforcement officer with the council, said ordering a demolition is a 'last resort', but altering the home as it stands would be 'similar to demolition' anyway. Neighbours in the area are pleased with the decision, with one saying: "I think it's right that he should tear it down. Why should anyone get away with breaking the rules. The house is bloody huge and looks like a horrible monster mansion. “None of the other houses in this area are that big, what on earth was he thinking?” Another said: "I'm glad the council have nipped it in the bud now before it's finished. It was at least three times the size of the original house. It looks like a sports hall." Edited April 12, 2022 by TIGHTCHOKE
Vince Green
That happens all the time round here in North London and I do mean all the time. Its build first and argue about it later. Most of the time the council ends up by giving in. I can tell you exactly what will happen now. Mr Singh will go missing. He has "gone back to India on holiday". So the council will end up dealing with his brother, his nephew, or his son. Who will be very polite and "try to get a message to him". But if the council cant serve papers on him (AND HIM ALONE) within two years they will be very unlikely to be able to enforce the order Thats the trouble, all the Land Registry have is a name for the registered owner of any property and the address. They don't have a clue who the person actually is
