mellors
Hi all i have a bushnell 3x9x40 scope. Its been on my air arms s300 since new and now suddenly shoots 4 in to the left and no amount of adjustment will move it. I found one of the mounts was cracked so I've changed that but no difference. I've swopped the scope and no problems. Is this a fixable or do i just get another scope. Tia.
Dougy
How was the mount damaged ? i am thinking knocked, if this is the case you could be looking at a bent scope tube. You have already figured out that the scope is very likely the cause by swapping scopes, i think you have come to the right decision. Dont try and save money and mounts, cheap mounts are more trouble than there worth, i once tightened up a gentleman's scope who is on PW and the screw head just fell off with very little force, and as you have found the alli is not always the best. Hi yes i thought the same but its definitely not been dropped or fallen I've never had a problem with it but thought it may be something simple. . I wondered if the adjuster could have come adrift somehow a new scope seems the way to go then.
Dougy
I think you need to look at the cost of a possible repair against the value of the scope, and of course cost of a replacement.

I'm no expert on them but it was worth the ask It's done well over 20 years old so i think your right just get a new one i doubt it was expensive anyway i don't need anything special use it once or twice a week for a couple of hours on ferals round the silos and barns. As i said i swopped the mounts and still the same. Changed the scope from my axsor and all good so it's definitely the scope. I just thought i may be a fault with the adjuster just strange it suddenly went. The mount is ally so its possible its been like that for ages. There's plenty on the bay that will do for what i use it for.
30-6
I once had a pair of binoculars that my mother bought for me on my 10th birthday and I cherished them. I dropped them and the sight picture went. Took them to a retailer who said the prisms were knocked out of line. Cheaper to buy new pair than have repaired as they were not super expensive. Over 50 years later and the personal sentimental value they hold for me, I cannot bin them. So, treat yourself to a new scope.

Certainly had my moneys worth. I've ordered a new one but it won't be the same they never are. Its always worth asking first.
manthing
I'd say if the mount is broken the gun has had a fall or knock whether you know about it or not. Either try the scope on new mounts on another gun or another known good scope on your gun. Is the barrel stright?

Also fitted it to my webley and it throws them the same 4inch to the left and no adjustment. Definitely had a serious knock or something i wasn't aware of. But the rifle is fine. Ultrastu
Does the s300 have a barrel band connecting the barrel to the air tube .if so .this could be out of alignment and effectively holding your barrel off to one side (it's common with s400 guns ) your scope might be fine . Check the gun .

Check the gun . Hi. Yes it does. With the scope off my axsor it's pretty much pellet on pellet at 25 yds as its always been. It's definitely the scope 100%. I'll have a play with it tomorrow up and down adjustment works fine there's no movement to the right or left but i can't see why. It's been a really good rifle from day one as has the axsor also bought new. Aside from re sealing I've never had any issues at all.
Ultrastu
Fair enough .sounds like the erector spring has broken or moved position. It's sometimes possible to get into a scope and reposition them .but its likely to move again in the future . Still if your thinking of binning it why not give it a go, nothing to lose . Yes i will tomorrow probably be an indoor firework but I've a new one on the way. They've both more than paid for themselves good fun and do a good job so I'm not worried.
