Gerry78
I’ve joined a local clay club last year we’re we only shoot DTL there is a large green bank rising up behind the clay trap wanted to ask more experienced clay shots what colour of lens they would think best to wear I’ve bought yellow glasses but have found myself sometimes struggling to make out the clay I know it also depends on the weather but is There a opinion On using one colour of glasses
Spr1985
Purple I believe is a green neutraliser, I wear purple (44n) pilla lenses quite often and when I take them off anything green seems to pop and looks really bright/far more vibrant than what it would normally look. Not entirely sure on other brands though
Old farrier
Are you shooting at the black( pitch )clays or the new grey eco clays lot of people are struggling to see the new eco ones in various light conditions
Westley
Before you possibly 'waste' any money, can I suggest that you ask other shooters, whilst at the ground, if they would allow you to watch some of the targets through their glasses. People see colours differently and as such, what appears to be the best for them, it may NOT be suitable for you. I have several different lenses (6 in total) for differing light conditions. I usually carry 2 pairs of glasses around with me. I was shooting on Wednesday in bright sun conditions. I opted for an orange/brown lens for most of the stands, carrying a purple lens, just in case. As we moved into a wooded area, shooting down into a quarry, I normally use the purple lens here. I tried it but did not use it, the original lens colour being the better. So lighting and personal preference play a big part. I only use yellow (pale yellow) in grey overcast or rain conditions. I find it too bright for general use. What part of the world are you ? Gerry78
Cheers lads for the replies I have just bought another pair of glasses with dark lenses I’m here in Northern Ireland were the weather let’s say is usually overcast or rain I’ve found the dark lenses seem to pick up the orange clay better 👍

I shoot with a guy who has a large aluminium case full of Pilla lenses, around 30 of them. Last Wednesday I asked him just how many he actually used. His answer ....."FOUR" ! He got them when he was sponsored by the Importer. It was that reason I urged you not to 'waste' money but, to try before you buy. Good advice as we are all different and all see things differently. Colour blindness or varying degrees of it are quite common and many people dont often realise it. My Grandson cant see pink, it just looks grey to him. He's not a shooter but if he were, I dont know how he would go on seeing a pink clay against a grey over cast sky. I see an orange clay. BUT, is it the same shade of orange that someone else sees? We are all different in seeing colours. At the end of the day, I just shoot the round thing streaking across the sky. Don't give a rat's bottom what colour it is.
Westley
Yes I agree, when I was told that "success in shooting is all between your ears" , I never realised they meant glasses ? 🤣

Leave your skeet vest in a puddle on the ground car park for a week. Use the same clothes you used for Fowling and then remember to kneel down when you are shooting. It won't improve your shooting, but the other Lads and Lasses can at least say "you'll have to excuse him........he's a Wildfowler " ! 😄
