Lloyd90
I bought a MK1 arrow laser shot last year off EBay. When it came there was an issue with the 12 bore attachment… it was missing the rubber inner and the ball bearings that press on the barrel to make it central in the bore. It has the 20 bore attachment and this works fine. I raised a dispute on eBay and they refunded me most of the money so I got it for almost nothing… no complaints there. I am just looking if I can repair the 12 bore tube to get both a 12 and 20 bore version. Also the 20 bore version only has ball bearings in some of the holes … 3 filled and 3 empty. The 12 bore is missing all 6 and the middle bit that presses them outwards. I assume they are brass? Any idea the material? Any idea what they use in the centre? It would be good to fix as a shame to waste it. Pics attached to show the issue.
amateur
Are the ball bearings all the same size and if so, do you have a caliper to measure them accurately?

I’m not sure, I did attempt to remove the inner tube off the 20 bore one to measure the ball bearing but it’s proper tight and I was worried if it comes out it won’t go back in 🤣 29 minutes ago, amateur said: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.ballandrollerstore.com/brass-ball-bearings/&ved=2ahUKEwjgt9L14oP8AhUFY8AKHTO3CtoQFnoECCcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3t-X-LzThiNE2BGG2nn5r4 Thanks mate, I’m going to email them see if they’ll send me one each to check the size 👍🏻
amateur
Just looking at the centre piece plug, it looks like nylon, and I would guess that the balls are held in holes drilled through the plug with an internal spring to apply pressure to the ball to hold it in the sight tube and thus the bore. It wouldn't be difficult to fabricate
billytheghillie
If it went in, its bound to come out.

Right I'm going to pull the 20 bore one out and see! If it don't go back in I'm blaming you lol

The ball bearings do appear to fit both models … although the nylon tube has split so will need replacing.

billytheghillie
What about a bit of wood dowelling?

Na it needs to compress so it’s pushing the ball bearing out agains the barrel but has enough give not to damage it. Most likely nylon, I’ll measure the broken bit diameter and prob get some on eBay. vmaxphil
Try looking for surgical latex tube as used for catapults then a wooden plug down the centre to hold it all tight
Gordon R
It might sound crude, but I would try the spongy ear plugs. Stuff a few down - should give equal pressure on the ball bearings.
Diver One
Roll a piece of paper into a tube wrap in sellotape/clingfilm shove down orifice squirt in silicon wait for it to set remove the slug.....cling film/sellotape stops it sticking remove paper tube perfect sized slug manufactured! well.its a thought AND the exact size😉😂 Edited December 19, 2022 by Diver One

Gordon R
Block one end - insert bearings - fill tube with silicone. Job done.

Not 100% sure if silicone or rubber that has just gone harder than intended over an extended period. My mate with the lathe reckons silicone wouldnt have the give / push back ... reckons it would be too hard.
amateur
Have you managed to talk to Arrow yet to see if they do spares?

Yes I did that ages ago they were most unhelpful and dismissive. I spoke to them when I first bought them, I think they just told me to buy their latest model 🤣 Ive got new Calipers arrived today as my £17 pair I bought 6 years ago were playing up and have now been binned!! The new one show that the ball bearings are all about 5.9mm and the tube (which I believe is rubber now) is 8.93mm. I am going to buy some 6mm bearings as that is the closest I can buy and then will try to sort the tube.

I just phoned and spoke with Keith ... previously when I phoned I had spoken with a woman (I forget her name). Keith on this occassion said they may do repairs ... and also said that if I send it back to him he could likely replace the missing parts. Dropping him an email now to get the details / cost ... might be a bit easier ... I have just ordered the bloody ball bearings as well!! The issue is finding the inner tube part that is the right setup so may be best to go back and get the proper stuff. Will see what he says.
