Kids messenger apps

Morning boys and girls . My daughter (8) has an old phone of ours she plays with playing the games etc but she’d like to be able to take it to her mums and message me.

Her mum doesn’t want a SIM card in it and I agree as she’s too young but I’ve seen a few apps that she doesn’t require a sim. I just want something recommended (safe) that we can message each other on.
it’s not easy being split as I miss the kids lots .
Any ideas ?

If it’s an iPhone then you can use iMessage without a sim.
Just need their own Apple ID and if set up as a child’s account then there are many restrictions that you can put in place, including screen time.

My boys message me this way whilst I’m away.

I think you can but the phone needs Wi-Fi connection...https://hybridsim.com/text-without-sim-card/

She has Wi-Fi both ends 👍

In the past I have used the £1 burner SIM cards that you see at the tills in bandm and the like to good effect.
Load it in and you can use WhatsApp via the wifi and it also gives you the option to voice call in or call via whats app.
