walshie
Couple of hours this afternoon between the showers. Decent few rudd float fishing about 18" deep. Took me right back to my childhood.
sandspider
There's something about concentrating on that float. Did it dip? Did something brush the line underwater? I must fish out (hur) my old kit.

Centrepin
I've been a lifelong fisherman and about 10 years ago returned to using almost exclusively a centrepin reel and quill floats but a modern rod for less weight. For me it's much more enjoyable to catch a bag of roach or rudd than to sit hours behind a rod pod watching TV waiting for an alarm to tell me I've hooked a fish. I carp fish still but only the methods above. This was a couple of weeks ago, medium sized carp to a 1950/60s quill, fished shirt button style and a lob worm as bait on a size 10 hook.
