very frustrated Posted March 8 Report Share Posted March 8 I bought a Escort Bullpup shotgun 5 months ago and have yet to get it to work. First time I took it out it wouldn't fire. Dunams spots would not give me my money back so they sent it in. Took 2 months to get it back. Took it out to shot it again. This time the shot shell would get caught by the bolt sticking out 90 degrees to the gun. Sent it back again. This time it took 3 months. Got it back a took it out to shot again. What cartridges are you (attempting) to put through it? I've had this before on my Hatsan with light clay loads when the gas port is a bit dirty. No issue with heavier pigeon loads though. So, I made sure to give the port on the barrel a going over with an old toothbrush and some appropriate cleaner, and had no issues subsequently. I'm not familiar with the Bullpup variant, but I assume it's the same mechanism as all other Escorts. It's now quite a mature design and will cycle lighter loads, but will never be as good as some of the higher end gas-driven semis or the inertia driven ones. It will not have been sent back to " the factory" .It may have been sent back to the importer who will have sent it to some one to look at it ,but thats all .The cost of shipping would be prohibitive . Some years ago I did warrantee work for an importer of some Turkish made guns .There was an on going problem for which I suggested the guns should be returned to the makers .I as told it was cheaper to replace the guns and scrap the rest rather than sending them back . At this stage you should be demanding a replacement gun or a full refund .Please remember the dealer is a middle man but he should be on your side and expediate the matter asap. BobbyH Posted March 15 Report Share Posted March 15 Things I would check/change; the standard gas ring seals are not made amazing, upgrade this, it’s £5 delivered for a set of 5 off the bay, make sure it’s clean and well oiled, and if it was new, they need ‘breaking in’ using heavy 28g maybe 24g loads before using lighter ones, I did all of the above and mine now cycles 21’s with ease. If the gun was manufactured for hunting or tactical use then it was designed for higher pressure loads, if the user wants to use it with low pressure target loads then he has bought the wrong tool for the job. Windswept Posted March 16 Report Share Posted March 16 I don't know about the escort but I know a few people with box fed shotguns and they've all had to mod and tune them. Often the mags need a bit of shaping or different ones bought. I also wonder if it's down to how the gun is being held, is it firmly in the shoulder?
