snow white
Hi lads I was wondering what the best way of loading bullet at the moment I use scales to measure me powder into cases but do you think a scoop would be better as some time the case seems to have lot more powder in I have checked the weight on to different scales and it the same. Thanks for looking
wymberley
Just think cornflakes box. This is why scales are a more accurate method than a scoop.
London Best
If you put your finger over the case mouth after you have loaded the powder and flick the side of the case a few times, or tap it lightly on the bench (mind the primer) you will find that the powder will settle to the same level in each case. Scales are much more accurate than a scoop.

cervusman
Are you using all the same make cases? Different cases have different capacities, that’s why you should never mix cases
old man
Treat yourself to a set of RCBS 505's and really get down to it. I did initially use Lee scoops and providing you are consistent they measure OK for normal field use. No good for F class?
enfieldspares
The most accurate of all ammunition the .22 Rimfire Eley Tenex is loaded with powder measured by volume. Not by weight. That is effectively a mechanised process of the old Lee yellow "Popeye's pipes" scoop. Or the cut down brass pistol case soldered to a length of coat hanger wire. All modern powders will shoot just as accurately if thrown by volume AS LONG AS THE WAY THAT MEASURING AND THROWING IS DONE IS CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT.
