When she was about four years old my little Granddaughter was disgusted to see a woman get into her car with a couple of kids and unwrap a bar of chocolate and throw the wrappings out of the window into the car park. She went straight to the car, picked up the paper and handed it back through the window, saying, “you dropped this.” The woman said, “oh, thank you” and threw it straight back out in front of her. I then went over and picked it up again and scattered it inside her car through the open window without a word.

Not seen such a sensible approach for years unfortunately. Now that is a great idea. Here for the recycling you have to book in. My Hilux needed a ticket which was limited to certain days and restricted visits. It's not the simplest for occasional use but easy enough once you know the system. For a "commercial" or trailer we have to get an "e permit" and you get a set of 12 I think per annum free, but they are restricted to a particular vehicle registration number (VRN) and non transferable - so if you change your car in the 12 month period - or go with a neighbour in their van, you may have a problem. Not knowing this - and before I had my own e permits - I did a combined trip with my neighbour on his e permits when his tow vehicle was 'ill' and towed his trailer with my Defender (the combination carrying my VRN). He did manage to blag his way in, but they made it clear that they were doing him a BIG favour!
Bigbob
I think the council made a big mistake closing the recycling centres during lockdown everybody off a lot cleaned out there houses and a few probably dumped it as the centres where shut

I remember many years ago we had a council tip on the marshes that had just about every toxic substance dumped known to man on the land and in the waterways , now that would never happen with so many objections from various bodies such as the Broads Authority and English nature . Anyhow , what I was replying to was you saying about your council supplying a couple of empty skips every so often . Well one year the tip workers were all off for several days over Christmas and the New Year , there was only a single track leading up to the tip and the two big skips were put on the very small car park , this was well advertised as there wasn't going to be and bin collections for around ten days , well within a day or so the skips were full , then half the car park was full , by the new year there was a small mountain of rubbish and it wasn't till the farmer couldn't get up to his farm they tried to close it down which was a waste of time as people would dump it anywhere they could unload it , when at last they did come back from the long break they had to get a digger to remove it before they got anywhere near the tip , dykes had to be cleaned out and must had took a load of man hours just cleaning the rubbish blowing over the fields ,it would had been far cheaper if they had a crew to work over the festive period rather than let a free for all . miki
That is they key. If the coucils openend the tip every day and let you dump your rubbish it would cost them far less than having to go and clear the fly tipping sites - although - I bet there would be some ****holes that would still flytip. They were talking about closing the council tip one day a week for cost cutting , where is all this rubbish going to go when people find all this booking up and time slots are just not going to work , we know where it going to go , with all the rubbish dumped where it shouldn't be dumped we get one or two every few months or years that get caught by the rubbish inspectors and get fined a few quid , for everyone caught there must be many hundreds that don't , MM
