kitchrat
No prizes for guessing what these had been eating, (although some were also full of hawthorn berries). Made it almost impossible to de-breast them without cutting into the crop and having acres of rape leaf explode all over the place. (The picture has gone upside down again, but the message is clear, I hope!) Trying a different wood this afternoon, not expecting much as there is no rape handy nearby and I usually see as many red kites as I do pigeons. Cheers,

old'un
Not doing a very good job, you should have shot them before they had a belly full ..... if the weather is anything like it is here I don't envy you roost shooting today. TIGHTCHOKE
Yes, I was out looking around the farms yesterday and most if not all of the WP's were feeding on the ivy covered trees.

Did my drinks run today and every pigeon I seen was on the rape.

Yes, good point, but they won't eat any rape tomorrow or the day after or the day after or the day after ..... Roost shooting was very challenging in the wind but no rain. A bit quiet but I managed 8. Did actually see more red kites than 8!
mellors
Well done again for getting out. Hopeless round here big flocks and they are on the small amount of rape we have but no interest in decoys. Heavy rain, high winds and even snow this morning. Maybe things will change nxt few weeks if it gets colder there habits have really changed the last 5 or 6 years with the milder winters were getting now. . marsh man
The wind was very strong first thing today and cold with it , alright in the woods but far to windy to be sitting on a bare hedge , I was going out for the day so as it was nice and dry I done my washing before I went out , hung them out in bright sunshine and they should be lovely and dry time I get home , the day wasn't bad weather wise and it started to cloud up as the afternoon wore on , drove home in the dark with heavy rain and very windy , just got home and my washing is wetter than before I hanged them out , wished I had gone decoying , only joking of course MM
