Dougy Posted Sunday at 14:09 Report Share Posted Sunday at 14:09 I am after some suggestions PW gang I know there are some fabricators on here. What can i use for runners on the bottom of a deer sled to help with wear and increase its life span, i have some Stainless Steel sheet 2mm that i could cut into 25mm x 1000mm lengths but fixing is an issue i can rivet through but concerned about the strength, and rivets wearing as its difficult to countersink into just 2mm. I have looked for nylon 25 x 25 x 1000mm but cant seem to see anything similar that would do. Any ideas Thanks all
TIGHTCHOKE Posted Sunday at 14:10 Report Share Posted Sunday at 14:10 Make a sandwich, stainless plate with the glass fibre as the filling. Might make it quite a bit heavier but it should prolong its life.
ditchman Posted Sunday at 15:03 Report Share Posted Sunday at 15:03 look on steel stockist website...you can buy 1/4 round in different widths they are about 5mm thick so you can drill and countersink them
Mice! Posted Sunday at 15:40 Report Share Posted Sunday at 15:40 What about an L shaped bracket so you could just bolt it for strength??

amateur Posted Sunday at 18:48 Report Share Posted Sunday at 18:48 The problem with nylon or other plastics is that they will abrade and be less efficient on the snow, whereas stainless should remain smooth. Can you use countersunk stainless screws rather than rivets?

oldypigeonpopper Posted Monday at 08:27 Report Share Posted Monday at 08:27 Hello, You will still have to fix on those plastic strips , I would use that stainless cut sheet with water proof glue and some quality stainless pop rivets with stainless washers either side

Dougy Posted Monday at 11:29 Author Report Share Posted Monday at 11:29 Thanks all, i think ive got enough options to look at, the cost needed to be sensible and of course to a budget or id end up spending silly money and overengineer. 👍
