fishandshoot
I like the look of the new Browning Cynergy, Has anyone tried one? I fancy the 30'' Sporting Multichoke.
kdubya
Hi yes I have had a little go? chap up at dinnington has a one! very radical in looks but as far as I am concerned the jury is still out? of the 6 lads who I shoot clays with reguarly 5 reckon they wouldn't touch it and 1 is going to get one?it "shot" ok and looks very techie what with the coloured chokes sticking out etc? but most of the lads reckon it looks "toy"like? and seem to Prefare a "proper" gun so I reckon its already got a lot of prejudice to get past before it proves itself but its not too! expensive? at £1500 so a few should take a chance with it cheers keith

fishandshoot
The same as me, a wet day at the shooting ground But an enjoyable afternoon shooting triples off the tower with the Browning S/A A pair off the high tower, followed by a single springing Teal :(
barrie0
One of the blokes at the clay ground was using one last week . Funny looking thing I dont know if he was a new shooter because he only scored 1 out of 25 on dtl . Theres a review here http://www.clay-shooting.com/guntests/brow...ningcynergy.pdf You will need the free adobe reader http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Salopian
Hello, I mentioned the Cynergy in a posting in talk from the field under "cartridges for woodies" page 2. In my opinion it is an overpriced piece of junk.I have shot one for over a week (1000 shells) it shoots fine but so does a Baikal, Huglu, etc., my opinion is the stock shape whilst innovative is poorly executed, Greener,s Rationale did not catch on although it had some good points. The Cynergy,s butt pad is too sticky with no provision for someone who wants to shorten the stock, the fore end/ejector mechanismn housing is manufactured from japanese wood (plastic/ polypropelene) I hope the design team are confident of this material,s durability? overall it did not inspire confidence. As a footnote do you think it would be a good idea to give HONEST opinions on products? because when you read magazine tests of products everything is good, value for money, well made, etc., etc., then a few pages later you read a full page advert or even more adverts through the magazine for the test items parent cmpany.Obviously slag off a product = no adverts = no magazine due to production costs. We need a Jeremy Clarkson type person to evaluate products before we part with our cash. Salopian or should I say Solly opian?
lrm
re Salopian I totaly agree with you, there is a lot of snobbery in shooting even with the ordinary people who shoot and they say to every opinion people ask for on a gun oh the ber---a is the best but if you shoot as well with a gun that has cost you 300 quid as someone who is using one costing 1500, they are both good, one may have nicer wood on. The guns stock does look strange very much along the lines of pro target shooting, but it may suit some people. I started a post about the escort semi autos, and the replies have been good, having looked through some forums on other web sites the only replies you would get would be, oh I have such and such for sale, or I would only buy a remy and such like. Good forum with lots of info. pete..............
fishandshoot
Well I went, I shot, I missed. I think I'll Stick to my Berretta 687 and the Browning S/A I had 25 off the high tower, well a pair off the tower and a springing teal on report. great fun with the Semi. I think there would be a great market for the semi auto clay layouts, triples instead of pairs. Mmmm I'll make that million yet!!!!!! :(
red_stag88
BRING BACK GUNS REVIEW!!!!!!!! Best magazine there ever was for reviews. I like the tower area at Garlands F&S, It has a "rustic" feel to it :(
fishandshoot
It would be even better if they cleared all the old cartidges up out of the water. A very good tower, and excellent for practicing those long high crossers. One of my favourate shooting grounds, and a very good shop. (now got new shop layout). :(
red_stag88
Might be getting a job there in the summer. It does get on my t*ts when people dont catch their empties, the clays arn't going to pop out randomly! The water is a bit of a stagnant hole really. Is there a fishery there now? lurcherboy
I would have one but it would take second place to my BENNELLI NOVA PUMP! @ £397-00 :(
the last engineer
seen it ,held it ,shot it ,dont like it ,i guess it will suit some shooters as ive heard, the machining/fitting side of it looks as good as most other brownings in that range, yes the pad is sticky and yes its probably overpriced as most of everything these days
red_stag88
Mind you, you get about a 99% drop in price compared to us
fishandshoot
Yes there is a fishery (Rayners). It used to be run by Garlands but is now leased. Let me know if you get a job there in the summer and I'll teach you how to miss clays off that tower :(

the last engineer
i see browning has them listed at $2000.00 for the standard, $2700.00 for the sporting and or composite not to sure of the us mighty tighty $ ex still think its a little extreme a design for me stick to the old faithfull ultras. martin
squintshot
I agree with Irm, watched my local highlands games clayshoot this evening, there was one guy there with a battered old s/s and he was using his second barrel to break the big bit when his first shot never dusted the clay, on the other hand another younger boy all the newest gear couldn't hit **** (he was still better than me) but not a patch on the old boy. Aled_cky
ive got the video for it..it is going to set the standard in gun designs imo. i dont like the fact that the chokes are coloured and stick out, even if they were made for hand-un-screwing. Aled
the last engineer
aled ? why are you looking at the chokes ,look at the target youl hit more ,i use brownings own ext tubes on my ultra from 30" to 32" have no problem id rather replace them than the barrels in the event of an accident . rob308
Hi, I am a new shooter having just got my license. I have been taking my time on selecting a gun and have settled on either a Browning Cynergy or a Browning GTS. 30". I will be game shooting mainly for the pot, sometimes clay's. I tried a GTS today and it fitted me really well (price quoted new £1150) but the cynergy seems to be the flavour of the month, I have been quoted £1500 for one. I am not over concerned at the cost (within reason) because I think I am buying a gun/hobby for life. Help! all comments are welcome I am also looking for a good club in Essex Cheers.......... dodeer
Get the GT Browning. Higher re-sale value, better looking in my opipion, shoots nicer, more acceptable game shooting etc.
