Guest The Outlaw
If you are shooting a 12 bore the Eley blues are a nice shell to start off with, in either 24gram or 28gram. They pattern well and hardly any felt recoil if you hold the gun correctly. You can get them in 9's for skeet. 7 1/2 & 8's for sporting and DTL Tony

Chard
Eley Firsts are a cracking clay shell... What he said I bought a batch of these because they were the cheapest I could find, and was very pleasantly surprised
Gordon R
They are the cheapest shell in the North West and absolutely no problem with them.
Markio
I have used a few Eley Firsts, i was looking for a low recoil shell at the time and they were as good in that department than shells costing more. However i'm currently using White Gold XLR 28g #8's.

Yes, White Gold do seem to have gone a bit pricey lately I rang round a few gunshops when I got my Eley First and McEvoys (MacAvoys) (McAvoys) in Standish were the cheapest at £121 for 1000 Fibre. ^_^ Bet they've gone up again now, though, I'm just using up the last of that 1000. :look:

Suffolk shooter
As others have said, you can't beat Eley's in First, Olympic trap or Blues. Good cartridge and I use them for everything except wildfowling where I use Remington Nitro or Hi-speed shells. Use HB Pigeon or High Flyer for game and Pigeons and VIP also for game all in fibre. The only Eley cartidge I think is compkletely **** is the Eley Grand Prix Steel, dirty fouling, horrible smelling, shell. SS

chrismpullbang
If you can help it, steer clear of D&J's, very dirty making you barrel a B$%£H to clean at times, Olympic trap seem to be a good shell to choose for most targets. Stu S
Personally I mostly shoot RC1 7.5 shot (in 12g), and i find them a good all round cartridge. They cost £40 per 250 from my local gun shop, but i'm not sure about cost anywhere else. I have shot Gamebore Blue Diamond, but at £45 per 250, they are a bit more expensive. Good cartridges, but i'd probably choose the RC1 over them. Hope that helps! Stu
caeser
The cheapest that you can get hold of. They all break clays. If it doesn't break then it's not the cartridge, I can assure you.
WGD
Anyone ever use any of the Clever Mirage range? My local clay ground stocks the full range so it's what I use (T2's - plaswad) and I've never had any complaints but they're rarely mentioned on any forums or magazines. Back to the original posting - I use 28g 7.5s for clays assuming you are shooting 12g; I'm not that good so don't suspect the choice of cartridge would make much difference in any case so I buy what I can get my hands on locally... no point in saving £10/1000 if I have to drive miles to get them. Stay away from steel shot though; read an article recently about the risk of ricochet within clay grounds (dependant on layout of course) when using steel. Good luck. WGD

Skeet: 'Pro Specialist Skeet 91/2' Pigeon: 'Pigeon Special' No. 6 Game: 'Supreme' 30gram fibre 61/2' Sporting: Any of the above! Hi dood why not eley dont you rate them? Come on, Winch! you know why! I was there at the birth of most of the product range! (Especially the Pigeon Special, Maxgame, 28 gauge & .410 range.) Breadster swears by the Skeet 91/2's. (He has the first box of Supreme off the track!) Nowt wrong with Eley that sound cases won't put right!
