steve_b_wales
I caught this little %^&%&%$%*% in a trap in my shed last night. It's droppings were very small, like pencil lead. Is is a mouse, or a young rat?

WeihrauchPower
I'm not sure but somebody might know. Isn't the field mouse a protected species? Not that you can choose who wanders into your traps.

Evil Elvis
They are in decline due to the huge cat population and the degradation of their habitat but i dont think they are protected....it looks nothing like a doormouse either, they have huge eyes and a fluffy tail. deeksofdoom
I've had a bit of and infestation this winter; here's 3 out of 8 that I've caught in my attic since the start of December.
henry d
D o`D you will get more if you check the set up of the bait on the traps. You only just got the ones on the L & R possibly due to the bait being too close to front of the trap. As a point of safety get a smoke alarm set up in your attic, I have seen first hand what a roof fire caused by rodents is like. Your local station/brigade may do free supply and installation of detectors.

Henry, Those traps were absolute ****, on a couple of occasions the bait was eaten out of the traps I had to stuff it down into the bait holder(for want of a better description) so that they would have to really go at it to trigger the spring. I was using some snickers bar covered with honey they love it, but I hear nutella is better. Must go around the house and seal all the holes. Thats a good Idea with the smoke alarm I'll see if I can get one, fair bit of wiring around the place up there. deeksofdoom
Thanks EE, I'll try that the next time I've caught 8 now so there hasn't been a peep out of the attic in a couple of weeks, so i think that should be it unless the weather turns really cold again.
