Billett
So ive just started having lessons and sending off for my SGC, after reading shooting magazines and the good old Pigeon watch forum over an over i have developed what I believe to be a dangerous hobby... What wil this be you might be asking?? Well as the weather is so nice im finding myself driving along through country lanes, B roads and the A1 some what looking for pigeons in fields....and strangly enough decoys (very very very unlikely to sport decoys especially whilst driving, this actually came to a point today where i felt myself beeing too distracted from the road.. Am I the only one who does this??
wildfowler-2007
no every pigeon and goose guide will spend more time looking in the fields for pigeons and geese rather than looking at the road
grasshopper
It is your duty to watch the fields...whilst the passenger watches the road GH

Hunter
Take care out there lads. Not only do you put yourself at risk, but you risk other people on the road. I know this topic has a light hearted side to it, but as an ex biker and having a brother as a biker (both having crashed due to car driver not paying attention) please may I ask you to consider safety. Its not nice for HD and other lads who come along to pick up the peices either Take care ot there lads! save the gawping for those walks with the binos and gun. pin
When out in the car I try and keep a lid on it, in the truck I mount kerbs, drive down lanes and follow them about all over. The mrs hates it, "blah blah blah" every time, No idea what she's saying but I assume it's something to do with mounting kerbs and pointing out pigeon all the time Edited February 26, 2008 by pin
Hunter
My better half always tells me of for mounting a phantom rifle, and taking shots at Deer, Pigeons, and Rabbits. What?? it makes country walks feel a little more exciting.

triscrx
I often spend alot of time scanning fields and crops when out & about seeing what the pigeons are feeding on etc. I always get told off for it but try to keep an eye on the road. Its addictive, frustrating when your on the way to work and there is loads of pigeons about and when you finish and want to have a quick shoot there is nothing about

pin
I think if you have an imaginary rifle but you've spent time speccing it out you like guns too much and should take a break
Blackbart
Ask a local farmer if i do it Then you can ask the local body shop how strong the rear of an eight month old isuzu twin cab is? The answer is not very.....at least not very compared to the front of a nissan terrano with a huge stainless bullbar on it. The outcome...2 4x4s wrote off!! No one injured and yes i still shoot on his farm

Pirate
I've been known to actually swerve off the road, straight through the hedgerow, flat out, in the hope of running a few of anything over! Been reported to my depot twice by the passengers. (Anti's) Pirate:
bob300w
Reminds me of an accident that I had a few years ago; I was turning right into a minor road when a little old lady drove out of the minor road, straight into the side of me. I stepped out, as did two little old dears (obviously someone's grannies) from their Wolsely Hornet, the driver said "It's not my fault", I took a breath ready to do battle, but before I could speak she followed up with " It's my friend's fault, she looks left, and I look right"! Fortunatly it was a company motor, I thought that it was hilarious, my boss was not amused, as they say. The thought that they may have been pigeon spotting did not, I must admit, cross my mind untill now.
Cosd
I travel on the M25 to go to work, since taking up the sport the M25 traffic isn't as painfull unless it's dark
