ShaggyRS6
On my way home from work. The boy was playing footy yesterday afternoon. He went for a Gary Owen type shot and missed the ball. Unfortunately for him the next thing after the ball was the curb. Ouch!!!! He was crying his eyes out last night but it seemed to settle down. He said that he did not need the Hospital. This morning he cannot walk on it. A lovely wait at A&E beckons

BSA Shaun
No toe punt. Just below the ankle. Definitely money on ligaments then. If it is have done that myself in different circumstances, but still football related.
Dr W
I hope he's alright although might not be playing football for a week or two. At least he didn't go to kick the ball, miss and some how end up standing on the ball which then slipped out leaving him horizontal in the air only to hit the concrete playground with his head and almost knock him self out and end up in hospital over night with severe concusion as I did as a lad. Doh!

pin
Who's Gary Owen?
ShaggyRS6
The song 'Garry Owen' is an Irish drinking song dating back to the late 1700's. Apparently General George Armstrong Custer heard the song among the Irish troops of the 7th Cavalry and liked the cadence. The beat accentuated the cadence of marching horses. According to Penny, 'It was the last song played for Custer's men as they left General Terry's column at the Powder River and rode into history.' russuk
The "Gary Owen" kick comes from a rugby club in Ireland called Garryowen, they used the up and under kick so much, that the big up and under is now called a Garyowen.
