kdubya
Nothing ever gets any cheaper, especially under labour hmm lets see who was it who introduced VAT er ooh eck it was the cons hmm poll tax that went to council tax (my rates where 270 per annum went to 1200 er ooh eck it was the cons who was it privatised our service industries and saw electricity gas and water bills go up like a space shuttle ooh er it was the cons, who reduced top rate tax to 40% but lifted basic rate ooh er it was the cons? which govt over saw mortgage interest rates peak at 21.5% ooh er it was the cons always noted for prudent fiscal policies where the cons? dont kid yourself labour is worse facts prove otherwise only things I hate this govt for, is how they spend our taxes ie immigration, subsidising unproven "myth technologies" ie the renumerable subsidies, robbing pensioners , you know that sort of thing, oh and of course being so soft with criminals, to the point of lunacy ( mind miss your rates and in the slammer no problem) cheers KW ps if BNP could actually drop the blatant racism and be a "bit" more creditable they would get my vote
tosspot
Nothing ever gets any cheaper, especially under labour Correction, it is cheaper not to work and sponge from the state the harder you work the more penalised you are the less you put in the more the Gov will help
Wookie
The middle classes always get hit the worst in any case. They are the ones that earn enough to be noticed, but not enough to hire an accountant to make it all safe. Time to get even more careful with the pennies I guess. bob300w
Nothing new then, the old usuals, road tax, booze and baccy. Tax will go on fuel in a couple of months, with the usual claim; "we did not put it up in the budget". Good old rip-off Britain. Dr W
Looks like national road pricing schemes are coming back again. 'Darling' has put aside a fund to develop technology for a national road pricing scheme, obviously he ignored that petition that thousands signed against a road pricing scheme. No stamp duty till you own 80% of the equity in your home, great A load of green stuff about taxing more on planes, and higher taxes for most polluting vehicles (read as 4x4s) From midnight on Sunday Cigs 11p Cigars 5p Beer 4p Spirits 55p Wine 14p Cider 3p
Dr W
Corporation tax down to 28p as we knew Income tax down 2p More winter fuel money for pensioners. So they've cut corporation tax for the big companies who can easily afford the money, doesn't make much sense. They should make the pensioners money means tested and give more to those who can't afford it. My wife's boss retired recently and he has never had a mortgage, lives in a huge house in Hampshire and has been receiving the winter fuel allowance for last 5 years, that is just wrong. Traztaz
*****, this is the same gobbermint that has us ( The armed forces) involved in two wars on various fronts and gave us sod all pay rise, yet when you can be at home you can't drive your car , buy a beer or smoke a fag because it will bankrupt you.
Sussexboy
For all those yoghurt knitting enviro-mentalists who drive around in their so-called green small cars and want everybody else to pay loads of tax to subsidise them, I've come to the conclusion that they need a new bumper sticker to go with all their save the whale and anti nuclear ones "I drive a small car - I only rape the earth a little bit" If you drive a car, use a computer, take medicine, have anything made of plastic etc etc etc then you ARE guilty of using the earth's finite resources - same as the rest of us. So don't trip up as you retreat quietly with head suitably bowed from the moral high ground. Edited as I missed out a vital part of my rant. radio1ham
yes i think all the money the goverment make on other things ,and if they stopped wasting the countrys monies giving it away to other countrys they would be able to reduce fuel taxes etc all prices go up but peoples wages dont go up to cover the rise the goverment put on everything they spent billions on the northen rock and still no different (why didnt they let richard branson take it over ) they did have another bright stupid idea aswell putting the price of a pack of ciggys up to 10 pound a pack saying it would encourage people to stop smoking (they would loss millions there aswell) (i nearly fell off my chair) and the bootleggers will have a feild day as it would encourage more bootlegging (i think they only look after themselves giving them selves stupid pay rises which they dont need its just greed )why not put the money back in to the country and not their pockets anyway thats my opinion im sure a lot you will agree with me

They couldn't give 2 ****s about the working man / woman. Dr W
The problem with these so called environmental taxes is that they don't do anything, putting £10 on a plane ticket doesn't stop you going on holiday, it's just £10 less you have in your pocket, so there is no 'green' effect what so ever. If the money was then spent on developing new energy sources or energy saving methods then I would support it but it doesn't it just gets wasted by the goverment on new crack pot schemes or given away to anyone who's not British. It really pees me off.
