having read about the montana jacket that is what mr claus will be bringing me for my top half.my trouble is i get frozen toes and fingers.i have found a site that sell battery powered heated socks, any one tried them ? my real problem is my hands/fingers as i shoot a semi i find gloves get caught when re-loading and come half two on a winters day i just want to go home.i prefer winter shooting to any other time of the year yet end up looking like the michelin man when i go out.it takes me an hour to get my clothes on and with thermals on even having a p"*s has to be planned an hour in advance.

any tips on keeping a skinny bloke warm ?

Digger,

Have you seen the Peacock Hand Warmers?

They run on lighter fluid and supposedly last all day on one fill up. They are supposed to get really hot too.

Little stocking filler.

That takes care of your fingers mate.

RRP £19.95 plus p+p, from Graham Knox, 67 Orchard St, Kempston, Bedford, MK42 7JJ.

What about these gloves fingerless but you can also use them as a mitt

I got the wool ones the other day at £5.95 they are warm . I have to work outside in my job and find a good pair of boots (no steel caps as they act like mini fridges in the frost) ,wool hiking socks and the one thing that keeps me really warm are a pair of waterproof overtrouser ,no wind gets through them and being pvc they keep the heat in (good for a hide but not stalking about as they will be too noisy) although I have never tried the goretex overtrousers they should be less noisy, also a couple of tshirts ( thin layers keep the air trapped) and a nice fleece under a decent jacket . That lot keeps me warm in any weather .

Funny thing is I never wear a hat as most of the heat loss is from your head , but as long as my feet and hands are warm and I have my overtrousers I am fine.

I go for the Yorkshire option. I have a parka jacket, from the Korean War! It may look a bit tatty, but It keeps me warm. It also has a button in fleece. Oh and a funny set of instructions for your yanky GI such as "When drying place near fire. Do not place coat in fire" Always good for a read when in the highseat.

All of this came at the true northerners price of £10

Dont hold your breath mate... I have one and although it is very good I still have to wear a inner fleece or similar to keep warm...See if you can stretch to another 40 sovs and get the RUSKY by the same manufacturer a superb piece of kit.
