al4x
Good to hear its worked out ok, I have to say two police officers on your doorstep to collect your guns you have to be very careful. Obstruct them and they'll simply take you in instead of the guns. All the keyboard warriors can spout what they would have done when they've had 12 hours to think of a response. In the moment you did the right thing and the right outcome happened. To me thats not that long a time frame to investigate the alleged offence and get the ok to return your guns. Odds are the Chief will know about the case as its a firearms case. At times the police are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Seizing the firearms when a complaint has been made is ok in my book untill they ascertain all the facts it just means were it a heated argument you can't nip out and shoot the neighbour. They have to watch their backs and to an extent the holders of legal guns backs. Nothing can go wrong if they have the guns, they've then been through the case and brought them back so job done. To me a letter to the chief will only get a polite response not written by him so is pretty futile but might be an idea to have on record so they can see come renewal that you are an upstanding serious shooter

Bad Man's list of things to do - 1) rent police uniform 2) find out where a fac holder lives 3) go to said address and ask for firearms to be handed over.... 4) use said firearm for robbery/crime 5) return firearm to fac holder to bypass any blame.... i would think this is possible.....
