redthunder
Alrite lads, Decided to go out and give Charlie some grief the other night . After a quick call to Botch we set off to one of our best foxing farms we got there early because i wanted to check the zero on the 243 as i had zeroed the other week but knocked my scope putting it back in the gun safe so botch brought some cans of cheap **** orangeade so we positioned them out about 200yards i had a crow bar in the back of my jeep so i stuck it in the ground and placed one can on top of it when i looked through the scope these cans looked tiny (there the ones like red bull cans) i got in to position on the floor with the bipod out steadied the cross hair on the can and let a 58grian vmax rip the can just evaporated into liquid mist so just to be happy i put the crosshair on the shaft of the crowbar and let one go :o it was bang on the money i was well happy that the zero hadn't moved. We then moved in to 100 yards ish so botch could pick off the rest of the cans with 17 hmr that was cock on aswell . We decided to get up on the mound as we call it on the farm you can see 360 degrees and its safe to shoot all directions, it was about 8.30 we were having a fag deciding on wether to call last light or just wait in ambush :yp: as i looked out over the field i could see somthing white when i checked with the scope it was charlies bib shinning about 400 yards out under an oak tree we decided not to call and just wait and see if he'd come our way but he was just jumping about like a cat must have been mousing after 25 minutes he was going the other way so we then decided to try and call after a couple of blasts on the caller he lifted his head and started to come in but then he just stoped well out over 300 yards he could see the big red landy parked on the mound sticking out like a sore thumb so botch decided to go down 100 yards to the right of me and call so foxy wouldn't be looking at a big red landy that was making a rabbit noise i gave him thumbs up to start calling again and it worked a treat charlie came in another 50 yards and stoped about 250 yards i new thats close enough for the 58 grainers so i steadied myself and squeezed one off "plob" as i looked through the scope i could see he was down So of we went to pick it up. well impressed with the distance i said to botch we'll stay and lamp for the first hour of dark after a couple more fags it was dark enough to lamp we scanned the fields we could see two sets of eyes across the lane in another field we called for five minutes or so and in came these two charlies crossed the the road and came down the field and dissapered into the wood up the top only to pop out our side about 250 yards the two sat side by side adult and cub i put the cross on the adult and squezzed the trigger just as i was going to let one go she moved left so i took the cub the adult took off like she had a rocket up her **** as we looked with the lamp another set of eyes appeared in the field about 200 i let one rip but rushed the shot i thought i hit it but it took off and then decided to come back and stop again i let another round rip but as i squeezed one off the fox moved and i missed only to stop again ten yards further on this time i took a breath steddy aim let it rip and plop another down They turned out to be three large cubs i felt guilty shooting the cubs but as they say there not long turning into killers.
