swifty101
Hi. Would anyone like to make a suggestion for a go goose blaster for the upcoming season. Last season i used an aya no3 with mammoth steel carts, only problem i found was the lack of any chokes limited me to lower shots. So if you know the gun/ammo combo for those higher shots, please let me know  cheers

clayman
Look at the Lincoln wildfowler. Made in the E Rizzini factory for the UK market, this is a serious gun dedicated to this kind of work, Its got the big chamber 3 1/2" as well six chokes including two long tight chokes. around the £800 mark if discounted Or, in the S/S there is the Ugartechea B/L ejector that can be had for as little as £695 new at the moment. commonkeeper
whtaever you use it must be heavy to absorb the recoil an i would use a cheap gun that does not matter if it gets trashed investerarm are good. commonkeeper
JRDS
Ignoring the wording of your question an old English big bore gun would be fantastic but for those with smaller pockets a 3 or 3 1/2 inch semi would be good, I have just bought a Browning Gold Hunter and its very nice. anser2
Three points Swifty. 1. You should not use over 1\2 choke when useing steel ( read the warnings on the box ). 2. As far as i know mammonth cartridges are not suitable to be used in a AYA no 3 unless its been steel proofed. I have a AYA no 3 3 inch magnum and its not steel proof and I never have seen one that is ( having said that the latest guns might be , you should check yours). I can only use steel up to 1 1\8th oz loads. 3. If you want to use a powerful load for geese try tungstone or Hevi shot rather than steel , but again do not use too much choke. Non toxic shells are not like lead ( with the exception of bismuth ) and most patten better in 1\2 choke or less. I use improve cylinder in my AYA magnum and Baikal 3 1\2 inch auto and get good results with both guns.
Mungler
Extrema or Extrema2. You can get a good second hand extrema for reasonable money. For big loads I wouldn't consider anything other than a semi auto - okay, they don't have the cache of an old english sbs but they are bundles less money and you won't hurt after shooting one. mudpatten
Unless you happen to be able to shoot well with it, never buy a cheap gun for `fowling. Buy the best you can afford AND LOOK AFTER IT! Nick.
