nickb
I`m now in week 8 after getting my application receipt from Staffordshire Police (Shotgun) Called today to see how things were going, might have well asked my dog for all the info I got! My mate sent his FA/Shotgun application off to Derbyshire Police, within a week, reciept, interview and a likey date for his ticket (approx 2 weeks) In the league of countys, is Staffs the worse? Which county is the fastest? Your thoughts all........... Nick

SilverBore
Staffordshire, same as yours nickb, and it took over 16 weeks(3 1/2 Months) from application to interview than another couple of weeks after that, so about 18 weeks in total. My mate in Derbyshire had his within a couple of weeks and was shooting before me - which pee'd me off to no end!

sitsinhedges
Northants, about a month in total. There is absolutely no reason for them to take any longer, they should be up to speed with demand, IMO.

nickb
It really narks me that a "Public Service" can get away with such sloppy slow service If this was any other industry, people would be getting their ***`s kicked! Hospitals have a league table based on their performance, why shouldn`t the Police, after all, we all pay their wages Nick
MC
Phone them up and tell them that, I am sure they will have great pleasure in losing your application, personally I have never had an issue with Essex Police. They have always been prompt, and have always given good service.
nickb
Phone them up and tell them that, I am sure they will have great pleasure in losing your application, personally I have never had an issue with Essex Police. They have always been prompt, and have always given good service. I have spoken to Staffs FAO last week, but with respect so as not to "get my application lost". The answers I got back were. to say the least. a thin excuse for a sloppy slow and inefficient sevice, in comparision to other forces (based on the information on here). A pal from Derby got his ticket through in less than 3 weeks. 3-4 months is just not good enough in my eyes.....but what can you do, but wait! steve_b_wales
When I had my 1st shotgun certificate (36 years ago) it took 1 week. Picked up form in local police station, filled it in, told them I was shooting on farm land and waste ground. No problems. MY firearm cert' took 6 days when I applied (1983) Ever since, I have had good results from Bridgend Police (Headquarters) regarding 1-1 variations, adding extra firearms etc.
