tomleatel
Hi All Am a newbie to all of this. I've been shooting in Hawley, JJ's and Dartford. Anyone who wants someone to meet up and do some Clay shooting then let me know, the guy that i normally shoot with has lost interest. Normally shoot on a Saturday. If anyone is interested, then let me know. Thanks Terry Edited September 14, 2008 by tomleatel
Peter De La Mare
....I guess it all depends on if you wear camo gear all the time and/or have strange tatoos and piercings. I usually shoot on a Sunday, and usually at either JJ's, Shrove Hill, Hawley, Dartford, Horne. This saturday is Southdown.
tomleatel
No camo or anything like that. where abouts is southdown? Edited September 14, 2008 by tomleatel
Peter De La Mare
http://www.southdownsgc.com/ Saturday is a 200 bird squaded competition, so maybe not the best place for you to go just now. It's about an hour to an hour 15 from Dartford.
tomleatel
Probably right. Just got a new gun as well, so chances are i would make myself out to look a right twit.... How much is it out of interest for the 200 birds?
Catamong
It's £75 to enter, and it will be a very good shoot in terms of target quality. Don't worry about looking like a "twit", every single one of us misses plenty of targets we should have hit every time we go out, and the worst possible thing you can do when you can't hit them is think to yourself, "People must think I'm a twit", 'cos believe me, that's not what they're thinking. tomleatel
Hope your right. feels like i'm missing everything at the mo!! New gun, so i'll keep blaming it on that until i find another excuse
Peter De La Mare
Shooters book of excuses is very very deep indeed.
tomleatel
So i'm learning... How long until i have to change the excuse though?
Catamong
One day you'll bump into MC, (literally.. ), he's one of the Essex mob, and he'll bore you to tears telling you all about the YFC shoots he's won with a 39 ex 50. However, when he gets up against a quality field he simply fades away, and that's when his giant book of excuses comes out, (too windy, too wet, too warm, too sunny, too cloudy, too hungover, too far to walk, two ninenty nine for a cheeseburger, the list goes on and on..!! ) Welcome to the wonderful world of clay shooting. Cat.

garyb
I perhaps shouldn't pour petrol on the fire.. But Cat that had me in stitches
tosspot
I perhaps shouldn't pour petrol on the fire.. But Cat that had me in stitches  Been trying to sit on the fence with regards to these two swinging their handbags but must confess to having a chuckle at that one too (cue a gag about breaking the fence)

throdgrain
Horne is a good place to go I think, the targets there are hittable and plenty of variety. I really dont like the scoring sometimes though, I had two hits marked as misses only yesterday
MC
I was also going to ignore the comments but I can't. When you meet the HAS BEEN EX ENGLAND TEAM SHOOTER he will drive all the enjoyment out of you. You will turn GRAY overnight like the John Major spitting image puppet. You will then think that everyone who ever wins a trophy is boring and you become stuck like a scratched record. Take my advice and enjoy your shooting, shoot as best as you can and have a laugh along the way.

tomleatel
Thanks mate. I'm stuffed on sundays. Wife works, and have a 2 year old boy, and a 13 week dog. Not sure if they have thought child care up there, but would be great if they did. May try on friday if i can get out of work early. Just depends on the boss going home early himself!!! Appreciate the offer, will definatly try another time though. Do you do any rough shooting locally?
