MM
Right then. Awoke around 4am and sorted myself out whilst checking kit, weather..toast.....coffee...ect.ect.. Got picked up by the lads around 5am and set off for the 2 hour drive. Got flashed on the way (camera, not man in mac) and arrived at Holyhead marina at 7.15am. Weather didnt look too bad, but as soo as we got out, it all went grey... After motoring for 40 minutes, we arrived at the first mark in hope of some big conger and tope.. But only found a few huss in the first couple of hours, with my brother taking the lead. As soon as we got a bit of swell, my friend Rob (and the guy is not spring chicken), shouts hes snagged on the bottom...............but is getting line back?? and then............................................... a nice male tope at 45 lb was really made up for the guy. B) Now, this is were it all went a bit "odd" Im fishing from the stern, just minding my own an all that..... when i see the biggest what i think is a bee comming towards me. :look: I keep staring at it, and as it get closer, i see its a bird Now, we are in the middle of nowhere, miles from land, and this teeny tiny bird spots the boat as its getting a bit knackered. One of the lads said it was a "Goldcrest" , but it was only young looking, and need a rest big time. Pushing my luck, i lowered my arm over the side, and would you Adam an Eve it............................................ i didnt want to show an expression of glee, but inside i was made up couldnt belive it just sat there and let us take pics of it. Anyway, i stuck it on the cabin roof as i was there to fish, and once it had rested, off it went So, back to the fishes... I got a nice knock, and the reel started screeming like a mutha my first Spurdog, 14lbs 13oz gave a great fight! Then we moved to the next mark. Straight into a nice Ballan on the best ragworm ive seen in years. And then my fav coloured fish. A male Cuckoo Wrasse The congers didnt really show, just the one at 10lb, same with the sharks. But, a great day with my buds, and great sport Edited October 13, 2008 by martinmoreton

Ferret Master
Goldcrests are well known for flying over the sea. I will dig out where I have read it somewhere. I've also had one perch on my fingers quite content like that after rescuing it from a cat. FM
