Sciatica.

Hi Guys,

I'm off to hospital shortly to have an MRI scan on my back to try to find the cause of my left leg sciatica.

Having had two back operations already, 1987 & 1996, I'm dreading the thought of what the results will show!

If I have to have another operation it will mean a complete change of career for me as I work in the construction industry.

Worrying times ahead.

Speak to you all soon.

Got discharged from hospital at 4.30pm after the MRI scan.

Everything went well apart from having to sit in the ward from 9.00am until the scan at 3.00pm.

They haven't yet told me the results of the scan, I am going to be contacted in the next couple of days to find out what they see on the pictures.

Anyone heard of 'Sporting Shooter' magazine? I bought a copy from the hospital shop and have read it, cover to cover, four times today!!! If anyone has the February issue, ask me any question about what's inside and I'll answer it!!!!:lol: Quite a good mag but I still prefer 'Sporting Gun'.

Thanks to all who wished me well. I appreciate it guys!!!

P.S Pete, I went to the Infirmary.

Received a phone call at 7pm this evening from the hospital.

I have to go in tomorrow with a surgery planned for Friday.

Just as I wanted to sit down and watch Exeter beat Manchester United, I now have to get packed and sort out all of the loose ends before tomorrow.

It means that I'll be away for a while guys, but as soon as I'm well enough, I'll get back to you all and my shooting!!!!!

Speak to you all soon.

Got to go in at about 3pm this afternoon.

I suppose I should be happy that things are progressing so quickly.

I've put about six back issues of Sporting Gun in my bag for a little reading. It's so boring in there that I'll go mad if I don't read something! Maybe I'll take 'The Pigeon Shooter' with me too.

Hi Guys!

I came home from hospital today at 12pm.

Went in last Thursday and had an operation on Friday to remove bulges from two damaged discs in my spine. Both bulges were impacting on the spinal cord and causing the sciatica in my left leg.

That means that in all now, I have had four of the discs in my lower back sorted out by surgery.

My surgeon, a lovely young lady called Stanna Bojanic, was fantastic. She came to see me every morning to check my progress and filled me in on the details of the operation etc. I was allowed out of bed on Monday morning to get mobility back. She has advised me to take ten to twelve weeks off work to recover, (What will I do in that time)?

I feel really sore and stiff at the moment but I am somewhat mobile with the aid of a walking stick. The codeine tablets I have been given are excellent.

I will no doubt be taking things very easy for a while, but have been told that as soon as I feel comfortable with it, I can return to my shooting.

Congratulations to the competition winners on Sunday, and thanks again for all your messages of support.

Good luck to Chelsea tonight against Man Utd. Got home just in time for that one as I was due to be discharged tomorrow and they don't have Sky T.V in the hospital

Speak soon.

Rob. ;):D
