ebay pigeon decoys again

Be aware there are "flocked decoys" and "flocked decoys".

The main difference is that on some cheap flocked decoys the flock comes off after a while.

Sometimes quite quickly.

I would prefer to possibly pay a bit more, but get something that was going to last and from a reputable Seller that I could go back and talk to if anything went wrong, you don't find many Sellers on eBay like that.

my local gun shop is in Eye in north suffolk, I paid £37.50 for 10 jack pyke fully flocked full bodies, they even had shells for less than £3 a box (£2.94), Eley first 1oz #7 but the guy in front of me bought the last ones

For that price, why don't you get yourself a dozen half shell decoys and also purchase a 10 pack of the Sillosock UV jackets, this way you don't have to worry about the flocking rubbing off!

A few pounds more you can get yourself a set of Sillosock decoys but some people think they are a bit fragile.

Personally I would go for the Silosock decoys; £45 less some discount, you can read plenty of good reviews here by other forum members.

If you have standard decoys that are not flocked, but want that effect for free!! Put a wire brush wheel on your drill and go over the decoys with it to give the flocked effect. It takes a little while but the effect is good. I make my decoy patterns with a mixture of flocked decoys and wire brushed decoys and they work well (no shine).

Just take care with the drill cos flocked hands hurt!! Put a pair a pair of gloves on! Repaint the while neck and wing bars with matt white under coat.

************* do 6 flock coated shells for 18.50 with rocker sticks i have had 2 lots from them and they are very good quality. idid get some jack pike ones but they were nearly twice the price and to be honest the ones i got were **** the coating was coming off you could hardly see the white markings on the wings or neck and the rest didnt even look the coulor they should so i sent them back. **************. they work realy well by the way idont work for them im just pleased with how quickly igot them and i have had some good results since having them.

im after decoys at the moment. not really bothered about flocked decoys and or uv silo socks. I once went decoying with a chap on my permission who knew what he was doing. when i looked at the decoys i laughed my socks off some were chipped, scratched and they were only plastic shells. Allthough he only had about 12 we had a great day and shot loads

save your money, get cheapo ones, spend the extra on carts !

anyone else agree ?

was it in the winter on rape? or in spring or summer when they are easier n not so warey like they are most of the time in winter. i think you need every little edge like good decoys in the winter to make a difference sometimes as well as good fieldcraft
