ShaggyRS6
I want to see Munglers setup. Bet he has a butler, or one of those chains you pull in mansions to order food Then compare that with LB's where he will just have the chain connected to the Rotty Edited January 27, 2009 by ShaggyRS6

Wookie
You lot are all amateaurs. Looking at my work setup, I can see four monitors on my main computer, with an X desktop to a linux machine, plus my laptop, plus another monitor for the other linux machine. I could really do with anothe monitor on my work machine, but it would throw a fit at another graphics card. I'll get a photo of it later... Mungler
I would not be so foolish to take a photo of anywhere in my house and let people magnify it and pass facetious comments on my carpets and curtains, as I am accustomed to doing

Wookie
Under my desk I have three computers (not counting the laptop). One drives the four screens on the right hand side using two video cards to allow me to stretch the desktop area over all four. I tend to keep a lot of windows open when I am keeping track of the things I monitor. Of the othe two computers under the desk, only one has a monitor attached. The other is a linux webserver and doesn't really need one. I can also connect to machine 2 vix a remote X display if I need to test somethig out using linux. Strangely, when I [briefly] had a linux desktop, I only used two monitors, but had much more desktop area thanks to KDE's multiple desktop feature. A shame a power spike killed the disk. hux001
Wookie, That's quite alot of hardware for what looks like a receptionist's desk.
dunganick
It is simple really, more desktop space. Take for instance when i process my photography, i want one screen to have lightroom, this needs to be full screen as i need the detail, however whilst im doing this i want my email account up, so i can send clients etc.... pictures. This is one example, i can also run two programs in different windows, photoshop and illistrator. Just to throw a spanner in the works, as i use a mac i also use spaces. Which means i have effectively 3 other hidden desktop spaces, that i can flick between. Once you have dual moniter you will never want just one again. I find my windows laptop so much slower to produce things on compaired to my dual screen mac. Its also free apart from the need for a 2nd screen with macs. You dont need a new graphics card, just a mini dvi/video 2 adapter to VGA/DVI/HDMI

Mungler
I believe the headphones on Wookie's desk are for the audio typing he has to do. The drinks tray with the kettle, tea bags, biscuits and cups has however not been captured in the photo.
Nial
Ok, now see what a proper workstation setup looks like... Seriously though, was someone using your office that day so you had to mix it with the plebs? Nial
Wookie
I was half tempted to ask for an office (would have saved my near-blinding experience a while ago), but I like workign where I am, even though people think that I am HR's secretary (their office if to the left of me). On the other hand, no one can see my screens from anywhere in the room... Dammit. Now I've got the thought of tea and biscuits on my mind. Nice one Mung (swine).
