ziplex
Hi again all I currently have a silver pigeon for phesant and rabbit and the odd pigeon and crow and a 410 pump hush power for the rabbits on the golf coarse I am getting into pigeons this year I have all the decoys and magnets ect however i was out last weekend and scratched the stock on the beretta and think 3 shots would be better than 2 what do you think are they cheap and nasty or good enough for pigeons and crows THANKS :( A semi is very handy for pigeons, definately gives you the chance to bag a few more obviously. I bought a semi for the same reason as you state, I didn't want to ****** up my Silver Pigeon that I had at the time. I can't comment on the Escort but the Benelli M2 is a much faster handling gun than most O/U's so is better suited for use in the hide I find. There are so many threads on the Escort, some love them and some don't...i've shot one and thought it was fine. kennym
Hi again all I currently have a silver pigeon for phesant and rabbit and the odd pigeon and crow and a 410 pump hush power for the rabbits on the golf coarse I am getting into pigeons this year I have all the decoys and magnets ect however i was out last weekend and scratched the stock on the beretta and think 3 shots would be better than 2 what do you think are they cheap and nasty or good enough for pigeons and crows THANKS Cheap & nasty? good enough for crows & pigeons? I think the world champion clay shooter in more than one discipline uses an auto, & have you seen the price of a beretta stonecoat gold sporter..... I our sport with all the antis the last thing we need is gun snobbery or snobbery of any kind, I think we should all enjoy what we do & accept there are different sides to shooting sorry got a bit carried away
Bleeh
I know someone is going to argue this, but I'd rather have the reliablity of a expensive O/U - you'd waste more time trying to fix jams on a cheap Semi than a third shot would ever make up for. I have a 8 shot escort which I would describe as cheap and nasty but it does the job and I don't care if it get's scratched of damaged or ruined. luckytrigger
I used to use a benelli m2 semi for crow and pidgeon. I now use a cheapo camouflaged hatsan 12g p/a which i dont worry about scratching or dinging like i did with the benelli. I even think i shoot better with it!! Plus the money left after buying the hatsan went towards a .223...
Spaniel
I have a SP3 sitting in the cupboard for clays and the odd pheasant on Beaters day and a escort semi for wildfowling and pigeons...i have use the Escort the majority of the time this year and last, with no Probs at all.. steve_b_wales
I'm with CharlieT & Luckytrigger. I have an 8 shot Escort for crow/pigeon shooting. If it gets scratched, no big deal. It may be cheap, but it suits my needs.
Edward
I have an escort, its cheap but I wouldn't say i was nasty, I would say practicle If you clean it regularly is should not jam

Having synthetic stock means i dont worry about it getting scratched and i like having the third shot too.
Cranfield
It is easier to load a semi in the confines of a hide, but beware, some of the semis can be quite heavy in comparison to a Silver Pigeon. Obviously synthetic stocks take away that problem.

Good point I'm selling my wood hatsan on here right now, it is a touch heavy but its the large palm sweel I can't quite get used to ...... maybe its cos I have small hands, .......come to think of it my manhood looks masive in my hand when I hold it to pee ....... let em rip boys
njc110381
I've heard a lot of good things about the Baikal MP153. That has an adjustable piston so it's reliable with both heavy and light loads. Some of the cheaper semi autos struggle with lighter shells. Don't get the magnum version of the Escort if you do get one, they play up with anything under 32g!

Agent36
Hi, I've had a escort semi for about 5 years, no problems yet!! YOU need to CLEAN all semi's REGULARY to ensure they dont jam. Who can argue with a three year warranty? The only thing that needed replacing on it was the o-ring in the gas parts, but thats it! I have used 24g right upto BB's no problem. I have it in synthetic for the same reason as most others, it is a working gun that I can enjoy using in the field and not worry about scratches etc. I now use mine for clays as well now, due to the fact that I am kind of "in tune" with it! (At sporting targets) I ignore the looks from others that think it is a bag of rubbish, as they have an expensive gun but low scores, I KNOW what i'd rather have. I think I paid £250 for it. My mate who is an ex RAF sporting Champ saw mine and was that impressed he got one, and now uses it when out in the field. I hope this helps, Agent36
utectok
clues in the name stick with SP spend ur money on lessons or go on holiday. A few scratches won't be noticed by the pigeons!
crazyfarmerboy
i use my franchi hunter 3 shot s/a 26" for pigeons, it was less than half the price of an escort is new it was secound hand though, i have never had any problems. . . so far sliding barrel, not alot to go wrong and do not have to worry about it getting damaged, also use it for clays at home some times, seems to cycle 28g clay shells fine aya s/a is usually used for clays i also use the franchi for rabbits but could do with a longer barrel
