Flytipper-caught one.

Theres a particular place just outside of town which until 25 years ago used to be a sand & gravel quarry, but since closing its used by dog walkers, anglers (the old pits were flooded afterwards),twitchers, photographers and those who just like to be in the middle of nowhere. Its always been a prime target for flytippers because of its isolation and theres already tons of rubbish down there at moment including asbestos, lorry tyres, builders waste and used roofing felt amongst other things.

Well this morning i took the dogs out there like i often do and when i was walking along the potholed track towards my car-i saw an old white Escort van approaching. Its not uncommon to see vehicles here, but i do tend to look and see which catergory the driver falls into (dog=dog walker,Fishing tackle=angler, rucksacks or waterproof jackets=rambler/twitcher) and this bloke didnt fall into any of these! He was in early to mid 60's,greying hair, wearing a white boiler suit, overweight and didnt look like he could walk up a flight of stairs without panting like a shaggy dog.

I walked further down to where my car was parked just off the main track and as i was taking my wellie boots off i watched the fatman 100yds away getting rubbish out of the van.He then saw me watching him,got back into his van and drove off.

Now here comes my dip**** moment. As he drove past me,i memorised his vehicle registration and wrote it down on a piece of paper so i did that bit right. It wasnt till then i remembered i had my camera on me so i could have taken a photo of him doing it,but atleast managed a photo of the rubbish he dumped. :good:

Anyway,i've filled out an online flytipping report with council stating his registration, location etc and will see if anything comes of this.Dont wanna sound like a Meldrew, but flytippping really is one of my pethates.

The stuff he dumped.By looks of it,he's a general handyman cos its a mixture of timber, tiles, cement and tile adhesive.

You'll be the darling of your local EHO......expect the bloke to get a day in court and a massive fine.....keep the peice of paper safe as it is your original note(you should sign, date and time it also). :good:

Cheers for the advice about dating & timing the piece of paper, but whats EHO?

I know what he dumped is tiny compared to what others have done, but this area really is an absolute mess and nothing seems to ever get removed so the problem can only get worse.I know theres a conflict of powers at moment with who is responsible to remove the dumped lorry tyres because they're in a (very) deep brook. The bailiff told me last week the council is saying its the enviroment agencys problem, but they claim its on council land so in mean time its literally creating a dam with rest of floating debris.Because of the amount of manmade lakes from quarrying-they're all interconnected by culverts to get rid of excessive water into the river and it aint flowing proper now!

Well done for taking the time to report it. Most people would just grumble and leave it at that. I hope he gets a nasty fine!

If he has a nice house they should take the dustbin lorry round there and tip that on his lawn to see how he likes it. What a ****!

yep well done, round us they have started driving down lanes and just tipping it in the road, I had it again this morning and wondered how come the council send out a lorry to put cones and signs all the way round the pile. surely the same time would be spent just putting the rubbish on a vehicle :good:
