commonkeeper
i habe been shooting a 12g for about4 years byut my curerent gun is a very heavy lanber. consequently i am looking for a more light weight gun. i will be useing the gun for decoying light rough shooting and vermin control, so the ammo must be reasonable(price wise) i was thinking of either a lincon 20g or a browning clitori featherweight 12g. (or other light weight 12g like berretta ultralite) which is better and are there any reliability issues commonkeeper
Lloyd90
Why not try a S/S ? There generally quite light and there's alot of nice ones Some a scheap as £50 ranging up to several thousand pounds depending on your budget
edr
Have you ever considered a 12 or 20 bore semi-auto? Light, low recoil in virtually any bore size. I have currently got a Beretta Urika 2 Black Synthetic with Kick-Off, a good field gun which doesn't look out of place on the clay ground. commonkeeper
thanks for the suggestions i cant hit bu**er all with a s/s although i have tried them on occaisions. i might have a look at autos but dont like them when shooting in company or down on the marsh. i recon i may have to go 20 biore and home load the sahells, but that does sound expensive. anyone have any experience in this feild- my boss does not wanna pay over the odds for ammo when i am sorting out his vermin commonkeeper

celtic invader
Like the sound of the clitori - Used one for years. They help you swing and prevent you from poking, but don't drop it in the bush or you will have to get on your nees to find it again. (But that can also be fun)

YorkshirePurdey
Go for a s/s mate. I recently bought an army and navy 12g for £100. It was made in 1911 and is a beautiful old hammer gun in real nice condition. It weighs about 5 1/2lb, loads less than an o/u!! Makes a good talking opint. For about £20 you can buy a copy of the original sales receipt, which makes a good talking point! (mine was owned by a M.G Bonham Carter esq. - if anyone knows who he was ?! lol)
swift4me
Just a thought... before you buy a Beretta or Browning, both great shotguns, you really should shoot both brands before you buy. It doesn't even need to be the exact model you're looking at as long as it is a field gun (unaltered) from each company. The two brands have different comb heights and many people end up with the wrong gun because the bought for the brand or the price. The Beretta has a higher comb than the Browning. Just a thought. The Burpster
I went from a Beretta Ultralight to a 20g Beretta Onyx...... (although I also have a 20g AL391 too ) Best shotgun move I have made...... Handles like a rifle, shoots like a dream. Use lighter loads tho' (28gm max for a days shooting) and you'll not regret it. My best shooting mate bought the Ultralight from me (I had it tricked out a bit!) so I still get a play if I want to , and TBH although it is a great gun with some great memories, its not as good as the 20g's...... FWIW try a Browning Cynergy (the wooden one) 20g with 30" barrels..... if you dont fall in love with it, I'm afraid there is little hope for you......!
