Escort

Yes but he will want it to work when it is covered in dust and grime, with any cartridge he cares to put in it and still be using it in 10 years time.

Ask any grouse keepre who carries a gun with them every day if they would choose an Escort? Now their guns work hard and need to be 100% reliable all the time whether covered in snow, or having been carried all day in pouring rain, and with any cartridge the boss gives them.

Any with all these stories of the chokes blowing out the end :P

I ought to start a facebook group:- who hates hatsan escort as much as i do? :good:

The italian B word springs to mind, them things are indestructable. A bit dear new, but the barrels will outlive any man without ever being shown a jag so they would be suited to a hard life. Nice and light too if its going to be carried all day. So I would recomend and over and under from their range, both old and new.

I can only think of two O/Us that come with synthetic stocks: the Browning Cynergy Composite and the Ruger Red Label. I would opt for the former if I *had* to make that choice.

I had a Sect-1 Benelli M2 Field, and as Sam says, it was as tough as old boots. I would not have an Escort, even if it was given to me.

well I must confess I bash my gun about a bit wildfowling pigeons crows bit of clay cracking and so forth I have droped it and scratched it and loved it. it's great 3" chambered and multichoke easy to stripdown although I did add a RAD recoil reducer as those 3" goose 50gm carts are rather special! Me I shoot an old 686 essential no fancy engraving cost me £565 cheap but beretta through and through!

for a keepers vermin gun are you sure an o/u suits, an auto is a far better gun for lugging round and not worrying about. Personally I'd not even think of an escort as they seem as reliable as fords offering of the same name, rather a berreta or browning. When shooting from a vehicle or in cover on your own its far easier having a gun you can reload without breaking. certainly most keepers I know use one at this time of year as they can be carried easily in the truck or quad and can be ready to fire very fast
