tweedledee
has to be the air arms.i don`t think you will get more gun for money.the hw is a better gun but has a higher price tag.
col s10
every one is going to say the rifle they own at the moment.
bullet boy
I`d say that for the price an AAS410 is hard to beat and is very popular although according to reports the HW100 is very good as well.
SteveieP
On a purely statistical basis it's got to be the BSA Meteor, with sales exceeding 4 million. Doesn't mean it's the best, just more sold over the years than any other. Depends what you mean by most popular. terrier
After a couple years of reading on diverse forums, I think the most popular airgun in the UK is the BSA Lightning XL, followed by the AA410

SNAKEBITE
I'm guessing the AAS4**. I know they fell out of fashion a couple of years ago with the AGNI shooters when the Daystates and HW100 became the "oooh oooh must have one of those" but for value for money they cannot be beaten. The Ford Mondeo of rifles, not the flashiest but the workhorse! Oh and yes, I do have one

The Ford Mondeo of rifles, not the flashiest but the workhorse! Oh and yes, I do have one I would have to agree with all the above points. An AAS410, as long as it suits your build etc, is as good a rifle as you could ever need. For hunting anyway. They were probably the best selling PCPs around for a good few years. The best selling air rifle out there, must be a BSA meteor though, still a great young shooters air rifle.
bullet boy
The BSA Airsporter might rival the Meteor as the most popular?

I think people who spend upward of £400 on an air rifle are in the minority...

Colster
Wouldn't the AA TX200 get a place here? When I was looking for my first rifle it was the one most often recommended to me... budget couldn't quite stretch and bought a Gamo Whisper X instead - once I'd changed the trigger it's a good gun and there's now a pigeon, squirrel and rabbit wishing I'd never bought it. motzki
i got a HW100 (carbine) and recently bought a FX Storm. Both are brilliant. The only down side on the FX is the 8 shot mag compaired to the 14 shot on the HW100. i agree that the S410 may just be the most popular air rifle, but its not my number 1. Zapp
Interesting thread this. I used to be a mad keen airgunner before I got my SGC and FAC, and never looked back after moving up. The result of this is that I have a good knowledge of airguns up until the mid 90's and then the trail goes cold, like I am stuck in an airgun timewarp. As such, it has been informative to find out about what is the "in" thing in airgunning circles. Back then, if you had a Venom tuned HW80 or 77, or a Theoben then you were the daddy. PCPs were the domain of the field target geeks (though this all changed when the Rapid 7 hit the scene). Anyway, I digress massively, sorry. Most popular today? No idea. Best ever (in my rather out of date experience): HW 80 or 77. Right, I'm off now to listen to my Longpigs and Lightning Seeds tapes. Zapp PS, the only air rifle I still own is a Titan Mowhawk single stroke pnuematic - anyone else remember these? Its fantastic!

Zapp
Hang on to that Titan Zapp, be worth a few quid in time to come Will do, I use it all the time! The convenience of a springer with the recoil free shooting of a PCP. You just have to be VERY careful not to let go of the charging arm as you compress it, the thing would break your jaw with ease ZB
