lenwadebob
SONGBIRD PETITION Please forward this on to everyone in your email contacts list and sign the petition at the link below. This issue is something that will affect us all in the future, either directly or indirectly, whether you do/or do not, have an interest in the wildlife of Great Britain and Europe. Save and Protect British Songbird Society Due to gross mismanagement by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) we have seen a catastrophic decline in our native British song bird populations in the last three decades, the latest such casualty being the essentially 'British' cuckoo which has now been added to the endangered list. The major cause of this decline has been the overpopulation of the sparrow hawk, goshawk and peregrine falcon, permitted by the protection policy of the RSPB together with its persistent 'seeding' of peregrines in major cities throughout the country. These birds have no natural predator other than man, and must be controlled to protect our songbirds. We therefore ask the government, the RSPB and its Patroness her majesty the Queen to remove these predators from the endangered lists. NB. Parliament's Private Member's Bill of 1954 (Lady Tweedsmuir) promised to lift protection of these raptors after five years. That promise has been reneged on for well over fifty years now. Check it out on this link: http://www.england-legislation.hmso.gov.uk...19540030_en.pdf Please sign The Petition http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/SAPBSBS/ Thank you in anticipation for your support on behalf of Save and Protect British Songbird Society
al4x
not sure on this one had you left it at sparrowhawks and Kestrels then maybe but you really expect them to control peregrines and Goshawks I think you're on a hiding to nothing
Axe
I can't remember the last time I heard a Cuckoo in the countryside, that was until last month when we visited the Wetlands Centre at Arundel. Was nice to hear it calling.
Huntinlass
As much as i love song birds, and do all i can with maggies, crows etc, I can not see how the goshawk and peregirne are overpopulated in this country that the law should change to reduce there numbers. I only no of one place in norfolk where goshawks can be seen and that is a rare sight too! The cuckoo doesn't help itself by laying eggs in a foreign nest and in conclusion killing the other chicks, eggs- making people believe its a pest to the other british birds. So for me the petition is a no no.
tractorboy
sorry no can do the cuckoo is a migratory bird which lays its egg in OTHER SONG BIRDS NEST so in think you are beat on this
Mungler
They would be better served walloping squirrels, maggies and cats (dare I say it).
jonboy1
Since when has a cuckoo been classed as a british songbird? 2 notes is'nt much of a melody is it, even a woody can sing 3. Cuckoos probably do more damage to songbird numbers than any of the raptors anyway, sorry not got my vote.

Highlander
Another well meant (no doubt) organisation that unfortunately is peopled with know alls who actually know nothing (in the imortal words of Manuel) about nature and wildlife! I'm with Mung on this...shoot cats on sight! that'd save more song birds than anything else you could do. After that, magpies, crows, squirrels and sparrow hawks etc but last of all perigrines and other birds of prey. So when I see a petition that advocates (there's a word for you Mung) cat culling I'll sign it!

Chard
I've never read such a load of twisted **** in my life. Anybody who signs that is a ******* retard. You can shove that right up your ******* khyber and wipe your **** on it. I would respectfully suggest that having that **** on this forum labels us all as a load of redneck lawbreakers, just what the antis want to see. This will be some whingeing band of pigeon fanciers. They break the law routinely as it is, persecuting raptors, now they want it made legal. **** off

I'd like to further add that I think you'll find that the majority of cases of with birds declining have MUCH more to do with Hedgerow revemoal, loss of habitat, and modern farming practices, and nothing to do with the bloody RSPB. I can agree something has to be done with birds of prey at some point, but spoating ******** wont help anyone and just make you look stupid. It'll just sit in the corner molesting Speckled Jim Speckled Jim They're like trainspotters and twitchers rolled into one. They have absolutely no interest in songbirds at all, they're just trying to manipulate crusty old women who feed blue tits and thick ****** into voting for something they know **** all about. There is indeed a link to their website on the petition page Problem is...........................i signed the petition so i could have my say (pretty much saying what's been said on here). Unfortunately they've put my name down but not my comments, i am therefore an official raptor hater!! Surely they don't have pigeon fanciers monitoring this and deleting any untoward comments? Do they??
Chard
I think I might take up falconry. For every signature on their retard petition, I'll get my hawk to fly down a Speckled Jim

Chard
My god we need that smiley Saw on countryfile how there is a strange increase in buzzards and magpies and a decline in songbirds, the rspb dont think its releted That's because it's not related. The RSPB are wasting millions of pounds of the charity's money, trying to find deep explanations for it, when anybody with anything between their ears can see it for free. When I was younger, I used to need to wash my windscreen every other day in the Summer, because I couldn't see out of it for squidged insects. Now I can drive all Summer long and it's just a bit messy. There, that was expensive research wasn't it? Nothing to feed their young on. Couple that with loss of habitat, more efficient and tidier farms, with fewer nesting sites, wild flowers poisoned out of existence by herbicides (they're disappearing as fast as insects) and there you have it. These repulsive sly pigeon molesters are creeping about behind the disguise of people with an interest in songbirds, so they can fly their feathered rats around the countryside unmolested (except by them) Don't fall for this ****.
