Dougy
the problem you may encounter at your local tip is the amount you want to tip there, I had a right plonker when i went to dump some 8'x2' sheets 4 in total, but due to the length i had to 1/2 them to fit in the van (another issue) I was stopped and told i was only permitted to tip there 4 sheets, but because there were now 8 sheets i was not allowed to tip the other 4, How many brain cells do they need for that job, he obviously only had 1 with him that day!!! And because at the time i had a small astramax van they thought i was comercial, your obviously not allowed to by a van if its for private use only. So best of luck with disposing of it in the propper place. No wonder there is so much fly tipping, and not all of it the ******.

Dougy
the problem is its from my girlfriends barn conversion, so theyv'e got great piles of the stuff1!thanks for the help cant you put it in the foundations it doesnt have to be in the building, maybe drive way out buildings anything. with regards to ****** and fly tipping, most probably the majority would be them, but what my beef is,the fact you go to the appropriate place to put/tip your rubbish and due to the amount of checking double checking and furthur restrictions and red tape IE; the giving of your add and post code and them taking your reg number, you feel pressured into dumping it down some quiet lane for no hassle at all. Cranfield
If you have got "piles" of it, then check your Yellow Pages for licensed asbestos collectors. It won't be cheap.
Smogs
It is known as special waste, as such it is very specialised regarding its disposal (and costs too) My advise is too leave well alone, no landfill will accept
jondoe
I think you need a special carriers licence to transport the stuff. Nasty gear, asbestos. A chap down the road from me died from asbestosis. It took six months to cremate him.
pyr8
can.t bury it as in time it will leach out into the water table and surrounding area.not worth risking you health doing it yourself.
chrispti
Where do you go to dispose of it and how much does it cost? or do people have to come and collect it?cheers sam Some skip companys will do it. They will provide an enclosed skip(which you pay for the hire of) and should sort out the consignment notes, then it will go to landfill and you will be invoiced for the tonnage. Ints not cheap! Baldrick
If the Environment Agency catch you using asbestos in foundations, or farm tracks, you will get walloped with a significant fine. It is far easier to pay £28 for a Hazardous Waste licence, as Chris says above, enabling you to get a specialist skip company to cart the stuff away for you. The last one I had done cost about £350 all in. It's not just ****** that fly-tip. People from all strata of society do it. I know this, because I have hunted people down that have tipped stuff on land I manage, with surprising results. We had 6 tonnes of mixed asbestos dumped in our reservoir last summer. The clean-up cost well into the £000s.
agusta
What you do (its legal) buy a shed shove it in there, lock it, stick a hazardous materials sign on the door and leave it......easy!
mysecretlife
This is a bit 'glass eye' I know but, the control of asbestos regulations 2006 places certain restrictions on removal and disposal. Have a look at the HSE web site or ARCA's (asbestos removal contractors association) site. Hope that helps.
