Providing there of oe quality and it can be proved

There lies the problem "and it can be proved".......

It all sounds alright until the claim for a new engine starts being investigated. Having had a £3500 warranty claim about ten years ago I found out just how difficult they can be. It wasn't KIA by the way it was Mercedes. They don't just say OK. Every service had been done on time at an approved service centre but they wanted chapter and verse. They put the service centre through it as well

I've had it said to me cam belts should be on hours or revolutions the engine has done not miles as some cars sit in traffic for hours and do little miles and a reps car sat at 2500 rpm doing say 70mpb all day will cover many miles in less engine hours. How much factor for this is built into the belt ?

You cant be sure about anything with a cambelt, except that it will break, Worst is to leave for a year or two, then run engine,

best is running all day every day

Cambelts can be as low as 36k so rtfm and there can be many stipulations and from time to time the interval will be changed in a service bulletin update.

Not just the belt either can include changing water pumps and pulleys too
