Farmers to be paid for shooting badgers

Just dont buy a sectional rod for the 17, and clean as soon as possible after a shooting session, before the powder residue hardens
-
Or use electric,,, Not sure how fast reacting a car door lock would be

Those requirements in a vehicle would not be needed by the vast majority of owners, indeed , designing and building such a vehicle for such diverse purposes could be seen as a waste of resources in itself. A bit like the car i presently run, it has a range on 600 miles and will top 140 MPH, yet neither capability has been used whilst in our ownership

So you have a gun that the combined cash of 4600000 people in the UK could not buy, Just a bit of irrelavant fag packet maths, sorry, i could not resist

A choke is a constriction, a hose crimper works by compressing a thick collar onto the hose in a very controlable way. compressing a barrel would be easy, might need a slight honing after to get the exact dimension wanted
-
Has anybody tried using a hose crimper to put a little choke back in?

The vote should be UK wide as it affects all of us, think we in England would give nicola what she wanted

223, 55grn vmax and Varget

55 gn siera, fill to bottom of neck with varget.. not scintific or recommended but worked best for me -
Years ago, a gunsmith in a london shop that sold Darne guns said the felt recoil mainly came from the cartridge moving in the chamber, the sliding breach stopped this. Have since read thad a hard kicking gun can be tamed by putting paper spacers on the face of the cartridge

You cant be sure about anything with a cambelt, except that it will break, Worst is to leave for a year or two, then run engine, best is running all day every day

222/223 are either side of a bit of a chasm, the 222 is a great upgrade for the hornet whilst still being nice to shoot. the 223 is more like a 22 250 with a little less puff, The extra 200 feet per seem to come at a cost in user friendly ness, I have had all three calibers over the years, Still have fond memories of the 222, but not many of the 22 250

Think the Mini is 1 in 9, It does best with 55 g sierra bullets with the case filled to bottom of neck with varget

Wind drift is often brought up in the hmr arguments, yet the compartive test at 100 yds show it less affected than 22

depending on your skill set there are a 101 things that you could do apart from actually milking the cows. Sometimes its the little things , like fixing a gate or, on a dairy farm, just nipping around the gear with a grease gun that can open up oportunities

Assuming you have horizontal split mounts.... Slaken enough to slip a bit of stiff paper into each side , turn scope till ret aligns with paper, simple

The safety with SA might go back to mthe early days when it was not uncommon for the shooter to press the button, and have a slam fire, was quite a regular occurance 50 years ago

When herds that are normally testing clear go down, its often down to a single "rogue super excreater" infected badger thats been driven from its home by the rest of the badgers. A rogue will travel miles looking for an easy source of food and a home and have a devastating effect in an otherwise clean area
-
dont need to hold coat!, the settside test picks up on the disease from the ground and toilet areas. An infected badger is excreting the bug just about everywhere it travels. This is the problem with badgers, they have no defence against the disease, something they share with Alpaca's and possums. Most animals have a mechanism to isolate the disease and can contain it in a state of limbo, but will re emerge if the animal is under stress. People can be infected but show little sign, then 20 years later stress can trigger it

Not as such, just kept running 20 shots through at a session , reloading the cases and going at it again, Took a while to get used to, the hmr likes being rested on the wing mirror, the mini likes the bipod and a rear rest, 55gn bullets and a case filled to the neck with varget
-
Well done on the mini, i have the 223 version. Have put 200 reloads through so far and accuracy is now settling down

Used to be rabbit clearance societies , government sponsored with subsidised or free cartridges pre mixy. Whats affecting rabbits now does not look like mixy, but its pretty potent
