  1. Any time now, a good test is to take a single piece of grain and split it in your finger nail. If its still milky inside, its not ready If its floury and firm it is. If you have had alot of rain, It can delay harvest as wet grain can rot in the trailer/store. Hope this helps F&S
  2. I want to have a go at this deer stalking, can any of you suggest the best way of going about it, perhaps a weekend course. Contacts would be appreciated. F&S
  3. PM Like a hole in one playing golf, You now have to buy us all a box of cartridges (shooting version)
  4. Jim Get down there on saturday and enjoy a day of fresh air, if you get a bag of 50 great if its only 10 then what does it matter. try a few diffferent decoy patterns and if that fails build a good hide for next time you visit. enjoy ya shooting mate F&S
  5. Just been and bought an Acme crow/rook call. I have not got a clue how to use it but what the hell I'm up for a laugh. Any tips appreciated
  6. Had a terrible day pigeon shooting but managed to shoot a couple of crows. Out of shear boredom I put them on the magnet and what a shock!!! Every passing crow just could not resist a closer look ending in a ounce of lead free of charge!!! Total Score- F&S 22 Crows 0 Has anyone else tried this? When the woodies did show up, the didn't seem to like the crows on the magnet at all. I wish I had taken the camera!!!
  7. Congrats mate!! I have 2 boys, now 6 & 4. I wouldn't be without them and they love it when dad brings home dead birds, rabbits etc..... We aware they dont come cheap!!! it took 3 years to financially recover to a point where I could afford to shoot when I wanted to. Keep us upto date we exspect more photos!!!! (No gorey stuff thanks, twice was enough) Enjoy your freedom!!!!!!!!!!!! F&S
  8. Its not a nice thing to do but here I go..... The middle spike need to be inserted into the vent (Bum) of the bird and pushed firmed on until to point can be inserted into the base of the skull. then spread the wings and either clip or spike the skin of the wings into the flying position. Sorry I have no pics and if your having your supper sorry once again!!!! I know a lad who spent weeks trying to balance a dead bird on his rotor, finally he used tyraps which was very effective!!!
  9. Great day out, only I took the wife and she spent all day telling me what I didn't need to buy!!! You live and learn, I'm going on my own next year Just me and the trusty Browning
  10. I here its going to be one of the best!!!! Just take lots of ££££££££ or if your brave your credit card (temptation!!). See you their.
  11. I had the same problem, I now take another shooter when possible and this helps to keep the birds moving around. Try setting up about 1000 yds apart, we found that any missed birds usually came over the other waiting gun (but not always). I might buy some bangers at the game fair for the winter months when my shooting partener cant get up on those sub zero snday mornings!!! See you at Blenheim!!!!
  12. If your Browning auto fails to cycle less than 70mm carts, give it a good clean. I have a Silver which had the same problem, whenever I use 67mm or 65mm carts which isn't that often I give it a serious clean the night before. No Problems!!!
  13. Nice to be back, I've got some good pictures of Antiguan pigeons but I'm afraid there was NO shooting what so ever!! With regards to shiny rotor arms, I have wrapped mine in advantage timber tape. It was about a fiver for 5m, I think its cotton, Duct tape do one but I think that more shiny than the original arms!! When I get sorted I'll post some pics of the Caribean Pigeon!!!
  14. When and where is the Midlands game fair?
  15. Is anyone going to the Derbyshire show this sunday at Elvaston Castle?
  16. Just a bit of useless info. The reason they smell when wet is that there soaked in chemicals to stop them rotting. We used to use them to cover up kit on the squadron PJ (Sqd Ldr Retired. 18 Sqn- Crazy Horses)

  20. It would be even better if they cleared all the old cartidges up out of the water. A very good tower, and excellent for practicing those long high crossers. One of my favourate shooting grounds, and a very good shop. (now got new shop layout). :(
  21. Well I went, I shot, I missed. I think I'll Stick to my Berretta 687 and the Browning S/A I had 25 off the high tower, well a pair off the tower and a springing teal on report. great fun with the Semi. I think there would be a great market for the semi auto clay layouts, triples instead of pairs. Mmmm I'll make that million yet!!!!!! :(
  22. Thinking of getting a Jeep Cherokee, new for 15k. Test drive last weekend and they really are the bees knees. Phil
