Taking the shine off plastic decoys..
activeviii replied to Terrierist's topic in Pigeon Shooting Tips
plastic primer them first then paint with an oil base grey paint, whilst still wet you shake the flocking ove them. do one at a time. flocking from fleabag site in usa. about £2 a bag and it will do 10 shells. for crows just use black i did mine last year and there still good now and i use then 2-3 days a week Phil -
I just thought it was a typical thing my pup would do. he is a right character, so i added the photo..lol. thank you Dave charlie isn't very sharp but then i was in shock on how close he was. he didn't even look at me, he/she was fixated on the dog as i was crouched down in a hardwoods APG jacket, next to a fence post. not the best photos but my heart was banging good and proper. while walking the dog around the farm that i shoot the foxes. i can only shoot t at night due to horse riders walking up a ride i came across this fox. about 30 meters away I sat the dog up and i walked to the corner of a fence. gave a little squeak just to try getting his head up but the bu66er came running. he stopped 4 foot away from me and just looked at the dog. bad photo but gives the idea. he is about 6 foot away in this photo as you can see he is still walking in. couple of my lad as i havent taken any of him for a long time. 17 months old now. pup playing hide and seek. just got him in to hartpury collage for gun dog training as i having a problem i cant fix. hope they have come out ok. all the best Phil.

THE FOXPERIMENT (not sponsored by sporting gun)
activeviii replied to Blackbart's topic in General Shooting Matters
When i was a lot younger i had a fox in a trap and didn't know what to do, i was about 13. anyway, me and my trusty .177 webley omega sorted the fox with a single shot to the front of the head. i can remember it like it was yesterday. fox was in a cage trap and i was asked to sort it out. i went down the track with the air rifle and spend ten minutes trying to work out what to do so i just put the rifle barrel into the cage, pointed at its head and squeezed. it just dropped, no messing or anything, dead as dead gets. first and only time i have done this and i like to think im old enough to know better now. Phil. -
took one last friday, asleep in the rape field. we have lambs everywhere as well Phil

it was a hypothetical few bags i was thinking of trying to find a way to store 1/2ton. if the birds are coming in then its worth £60 as its £170 for a wildfowler ticket.hehe. the price of the grain isnt going up at moment and he is having to dehumidify the store as well so all the time its costing him. i think i will ask him tomorrow Phil.

how much we looking at ££ reason im asking is the one farm i shoot on has a mountain of the stuff that he hasnt sold yet so i might be able to get a few bags if i can find a way to store it until later in the year. Phil.

I'm want to draw the ducks to a few ponds and streams in the area i can shoot over, rather than just waiting for the odd one to turn up. i have had a few off one stream this year but would like to try drawing more in next sesson. after reading as much as i can find about feeding wheres and whens i have now one main flaw in my grand plans.... where to get feed from at the right price. can anyone point me in the right direction please and how much are we looking to pay for the feed. in the gloucester area thanks in advance for your guidance gents All the best Phil.

pedmeds online for your vet foods is cheaper. just bought a 7kg bag of royal caine hypoallergenic for my mother-in-laws dog. it had a lot of problems so had to be on this type of food. we use to buy in though given and take web site as you get cash back for doing it as well as it being cheaper than the vets. my cocker suffers with skin flaking so we just put in half a tin of sardines in oil with his kibbles. all good now. this bag of food hasnt been opens and the mother-in-laws dog with put to sleep today. the sack of food was £39 for 7kg so it will go to a dog home i guess as i dont think i could send it back for a refund. Phil.

i think these two posta say it all really and i couldnt agree more. two main points. you get out what you put in with any dog and a cocker fits on the lap better at the end of a long day. i cant wait till my next pup comes along. have to find the right one first.hehe. oh and get it past the wife as we do really really need another..lol.

thats why i like the shirts, they are copies of the first shirts worn 100 yrs ago. i want one. the number 5 will do nice as thats where my son plays. hats off to you England, at last you took the pressure and held the win........................ .........for once. Phil

your having a laugh same old england. start well and die after 30 minutes and then get scrappy as they go on to give up stupid pens and points. i do like the kit this year though, old style look about it. tomorrow should be a better game to watch.

gloucester is a dive mate. the quay area is mostly rented dole bums from over seas( politest way i could put it) there is a couple of places just out side gloucester but cheltenham has, by far, better places. saying that i have had a few good meals upstiars in doctor fosters. its on the docks. just asked the wife and she says the wharf at over. new place but good reviews. not far from the quays. also nan-dos on the quays, new but people say ist not bad. things to do in gloucester.................. ....... get on M5 and go home as its pants around here.lol. unless you like the friday night fight night. You could always take the wife pigeon shooting, miss badly and then put it down to the gun being not much use and you need a batter one.haha. Phil

Im a cocker man too. i do like springer's but there not for me. Edward Martin summed it up nicely. 'a Cocker is a little person, no two the same. a Springer is, just a springer.' i have the go head for the next cocker. just waiting for the breeder i bought from last time, to see what she is turning out. i do have one on order but not sure about the size. got asked if i would use my dog on a 3 yr old bitch but wife's not to happy about it as she thinks it will spoil him so waiting and watching at the moment. ATB Phil.

a friend runs his with the T8, rest of rifle is the same and with the same ammo. i dont like the ping it gives off, it seams louder as well but i think if he was to add a cover then it would help a lot. other reason i like the slim pez is that i done get light washout when lamp is scope mounted. i use tripod stalking sticks when out so balance isnt to much worry with it. thanks for the heads up on mod covers Lez. do you know if they do a full moderator cover, that one on there site looks like my trousers.lol. thanks again Phil.

your dam right you will not EVER forget it, your misses will remind you every time you moan about pain. Congratulation to you and your good lady wife. Phil

no, no, he still hasn't learnt, he is American. if its still giving grief then just shoot yourself in the other hand...... ........works well to take your mind off old war wounds

put the lead on and peg it down.

you might find that the pellet has a fatty shell around it now so you will not know the size left until the pellet is out. i had a mate that got shot in the face with a pellet, in a van and a loaded air rifle. trigger got pulled and pellet bounced around van, ended up in his cheek. went to doctors but told to leave it as it had gone up the skin by and inch. wasnt happy with that so go drunk and got the tweezers out. dont forget the money shot.

same mod on my T3 222. a friend has the same rifle with a big reflex mod but i like my pes better. there is no lamp flash when the tracer max is on top. there is no metallic ping like he has with his. only down side with mine is it is stainless and un stripable a soak over night in cheap cola sorts out the cleaning, then a rinse and warm up of a radiator for a few hours. would like to find a rubber camo sleeve to slip over the mod rather than old bike inner tube. all the best Phil.

speaking to someone a little while ago that sent gold into one of these places. couple days later she was given a price, it was no where near the real value. the woman said no thanks and send it back to her. to later we have all ready melted it down they told her. dont know the out come but she was had me think. Phil.
