For lightness, forget it, they weigh the same as a half shell. I use 30 but i have taken all the red spikes off and replaced the wire and washers. i have bent the wire so its under the neck. i put them in bamboo sticks or bits of old carbon tend poles. they face the wind and dance about nicely. I have half shells, Fuds and silosocks. all have there day, but i find that green crops work best with FUDS and silosock and crop that is changing colour or harvested decoy better with flocked half shells. It might just be me but i have been using silo's and Fuds since they came on the market and i shoot a lot, so i think it happens this way to often to be a coincidence. The rivet still brake on the FUD's but thats because people shoot them.lol. Mail NRA direct and ask for a rivet pack. thats all i do. All the best Phil.

you can get a chain weed cutter. 1 meter lengths, like a double sided saw blade that has been twisted and then link swiveled together. rope one either end. we used a 30 meter cutter. 2x200 meters of rope and a boat. row across the lake leaving the rope ends with two helpers. drop the cutter out along the opposite bank. the two helper then pull in a sawing action back across the lake. we did the 4'5 acre lake when we first took it over from the fluff chuckers as we had full length weed growth in 20 foot of water. it was gin clear and chocked right up. we cut the whole lake twice, once each year. done on a windy day as once cut it floats to the far bank. then just a case of raking it out. ok it was hard work but it was a lot of weed. 25 years on and its never been cut since. only thing we did was get big water containers, cut the tops of and plant up with lilies. we have a nice spread on the surface but only a barrle of mud under the water.

I use this page for a starter load. http://stevespages.com/264_9_140.html I have sent you the ballistic testing link, i think.lol. I will be trying the 140 hot-cores as soon as i get off my butt and order them. i spoke to cliffs who said they might be discontinued but a quick mail to Speer said differant. I didnt like the way the deep-curls opened up

I use Benchmark with good result. only 21.5gn but its 95% full case.

Im using Speer hot-core 120g at the moment. not happy with the grouping so im stepping up to 140gn hot-core. Just a little gutted as the bullet is very sweet. nice entry and only 1" exit on the last Roe. Varget 38gn, its at the top of the reload but there is no pressure sighs. I have 3/4 box left then i will move over to 140gn and start the reloading again. If you get to try the hot-curls please let us know how they behave. from what i have read i think they have a higher weight retention than the hot-cores so on meat damage it might be a good thing but for dropping foxes on the spot, im not sure. i see someone did a big bullet test on a forum showing before and after plus bullet weight retention. i have it here somewhere if you want it. all the best Phil.

how to attach deer antlers and part skull to a shield?
activeviii replied to pegasus bridge's topic in Craft and DIY Section
Did you bleach the skull. looks a little pink still. I just tried the 9% peroxide from the chemist. 20 hours with kitchen towel and put in bag. worked very will. I have 30% coming so 4 hours should be enough for the next one. -

The rifle is a Tikka T3 6.5x55 loaded with 120gn speer hot-core. 4.5-14x50 Leupold and a Pez T12 moderator. I was thinking about going out on the pigeons this morning but i couldnt sleep and no one wanted to go on the pigs so i thought an early morning walk might help. Its rained all year it seams. Im going to retrain as a veterinary carpenter and specialise in arks.
