  1. Anybody who believes that teachers work 60-80 hours a week is sadly deluded or a teacher. The teachers in the school where I worked for 5 years work 4 days a week (the TA's do the majority of the actual work) and then have a day to prepare the following weeks work-as this is the same year on year they seem to go shopping an awful lot or just sit at home. As for working in the holidays I cannot comment because of the swear filter-teachers need to get real-they have an inbuilt pay rise in their contract whereas support staff have nothing-1 1/2 % in total in the 5 years that I worked in the school.
  2. Bring the Army in to babysit for a few weeks-inform the "poor" teachers that they will be fined £60 a day (the same as we are if our child takes time off without permission) and that their salary will be reduced by 5% per week that they are away-lets see how dedicated they are-the problem with teachers is that they have never left school and faced reality.
  3. I believe that NIKON did/do make scopes-if it is one of theirs then I would not sell it-some of the best glass money can buy.
  4. There should be 2 allen headed grub screws on the top of the receiver-try nipping them up.
  5. Mmmmmm-there's a good reason that most of these fired a few pellets and then went back into the box-to be sold on or tucked away in a drawer and forgotten.
  6. Just a quick heads up for this new shop, only been open a couple of weeks so stock is limited but he seems to be able to source any gun you can dream of within 24 hours. Been looking for a Winnie 101 for a while that hasn't been shot to bits and the guy puts a near mint one in my hands within a day. Faultless customer service is a rare experience these days but this shop is on the money-good luck Steve-you deserve to do well.
  7. Biggest shame about the 50 was that it never shot anywhere near as good as it looked-the 35 was a better gun-the 45 was in a different league.
  8. Sorry Freakmode but you are wrong-Toothache is far more funny.
  9. If you find Mrs Browns Boys funny then I would say that you are well overdue for a holiday
  10. Bin saying for years that the 45 is Wolf in Sheep's clothing - superb piece of engineering with , if I remember right, an unusual type of rifling.
  11. FACT-woman with 5 kids from different fathers brings one of them to our local school every day in an M3-because she "likes" the school-when her last car broke down the council paid for a taxi for the child for over a month. She bought a Boxer dog for £800 and gave it to a friend of mine after 6 months because she didn't have the time to walk it-she was evicted from a 4 bed bungalow in our village and is waiting to move into a brand new 4 bed in a local village-in fact she spent last week shopping for new furniture as her current ones are "nearly 4 years old" !! She worked for half a day last year but didn't like it so she simply lives on the state-she was reported last year for posting pictures of herself and her new man fishing everyday on Facebook but then developed a nasty limp that required crutches and many trips to many hospitals ( no conditions were found) and now that the investigation seems to be a thing of the past her limp has vanished and she spends most of her time fishing again. She has no shame and is very open about where her money comes from but has no intention of ever working. By contrast ,my friend (the guy she gave the dog to) works over 60 hours a week and cannot afford to even rent a flat in our village-this country is messed up .
  12. Had mine 20+ years and still looks like new, I stuck a cheap (Parker Hale)_moderator on it and an old 3-9x50 scope and in all these uears I have only needed to re-zero twice-great guns-feed it RWS and you wont go far wrong.
  13. Got caught by a fixed camera back in April doing 58 in a 50 limit and after reading the NIP I opted to pay the £100 and take the 3 points-the offence was clearly written as SP50.After receiving my licence back today I noticed that the offence is now written as an SP30-the wrong code and thus the wrong offence. I rang DVLA who confirmed that the offence reported to them and on my driving record is an SP30. So my question is-I have been found guilty of an offence that I was never charged with and punished for said offence-should I get the caser overturned?
  14. Deffo go for Pigeon/Magpie specific ones-I tried Slug pellets but they were useless.
  15. What you really need is a hook up lead with 3 sockets that takes power from the campsite into your tent so you can run a fridge etc-like the one going begging in my shed that I keep tripping over-someone must want one?
  16. Love the Ads for the Army on the TV-man in tank..."IT Manager. Man firing gun....."Car Mechanic" e.t.c -I can imagine the Russian adverts-Man in tank...."Tank driver".....Man firing gun......" Marine Commando" and so on......
  17. 2 Bottles of veeeery nice single malt and a Yamaha Virago 1100
  18. The only difference between this and a 12 will be cartridge prices-16's will kill at the same range as a 12 all day long and are lighter on the shoulder. In this condition you will be unlikely to lose money because they simply are not made anymore-I had a 16 like this for many years and used it more than any other gun in my cabinet ( Browning's and Beretta's) and only got rid of her because a member of this forum was desperate for a gun.
  19. The S410 would be the better bet-the 200 only has about 40 shots per fill.
  20. Hi Steve-pm = private message-just click on a members name and you will see "send me a message". If you buy a mount from RS over the phone then make sure you pay the online price-and I think that postage is free . Best way to prevent scope creep, as no arrestor devices are fitted, is to ensure that the gun is well serviced and running as smooth as possible and also by not using a huge/heavy scope. Mine is the rarer .177-took me years to find a near mint one. Mine was serviced by R&K Stockcraft and will produce sub 10mm/10 shot groups at 25 yards all day long if you bench rest her-took some running in though-search this forum for my first experiences with her
  21. You might find a better fitting pellet but I would go for quality my friend-AA H&N etc-the AA's were dismissed as soon as I put one in the barrel because they dropped down so far-but after messing around with better fitting jobbies I found the AA were best by far for accuracy. The reach forward mounts are cheapest from Ronnie Sunshines (Ebay item 360825667475) and I am 99.9 certain that you will need them to get the correct eye relief
  22. Just had my local dealer check this little gem out-needs a minor repair (under £40) but he estimates its value at around the £500 mark-a real Bosher bargain
  23. I have a Mercury S-after testing I found that AA Field work as well as can be expected-they may drop into the breach but they are still very accurate. As for fitting a scope-you will need "reach forward" mounts to get the correct eye relief-the mount that would normally be at the muzzle end has to be reversed and fitted at the back.If you search this section you should find a few threads about this gun.
  24. My friend (now sadly departed - God Bless him) Ricky Dyson was a tail gunner in a Lancaster that crashed on take off in Lincs.-after being thrown clear in the entire tail gun section Ricky managed to cut himself clear with an Axe and ran back to the burning plane. He managed to climb inside the cockpit and pull the pilot to safety before re entering the plane to remove the screaming and burning flight engineer (after pulling him clear Ricky threw his flight jacket over the man to kill the fire but as he pushed down the mans stomach burst apart)-for his actions he received the George Medal. In 1945 ,and on the same mission where Guy Gibson died, Ricky's plane collided with another and he was the sole survivor-he parachuted to safety and spent the last days of the war in captivity. Nicest and most humble man I ever had the good fortune to meet. Great thread Sniper-lest we forget.
