Totally agree with every word that Blunderbust said-could,nt have put it better myself. The best gun between a normal springer and a gas ram is definatly a PCP.

My local gunsmith charged me £15

I live a couple of doors away from a springer man (and we are talking top class champion breeder/trainer) who feeds his dogs on cheap Lidl tripe dog food when not working and then switches as the season starts. His theory is that theres no need to put rocket fuel in something thats not flying.

These were great guns and there,s stil loads of them going strong.Price seems to depend 99% on condition-i,ve seen them on this site for £50 and elsewhere for less but some of the better ones are around the £120+ mark in dealers. Both sights need to be present and correct-the front sight has a built in bead from memory but no protection and many were broken off and then filed to a point.

I have a 10 ltr 200Bar cylinder with DIN valve-out of test but in vgc and should pass easily-free to first person who wants to collect it from Winslow in Bucks. Please state on this thread that you want it and pm me as well.

Much as i,ve spent many happy years of Weirauch ownership i have to be honest and admit that the TX200 i owned out performed them all in one way or another. The gun oozes quality and is very gentle and smooth to shoot-AA have obviously got the internal specs spot on and you sometimes need to chrono the gun to convince yourself that its a full power rifle. They are heavy which can be a benefit but the balance is superb-as for a scope i think that the gentle firing cycle would allow most reasonable quality units to be used-pop a one piece mount on with arrestor pins and you will most likely never have to worry about zero shift.Because of the quality they tend to hold their value-bit of a ****** now but pays dividends when you come to sell.If PCP,s were banned tommorow i would be hard pressed to think of any other rifle to buy.

Isnt there normally a small red or green light that comes on when AC power is plugged in?-if it turns out to be the input socket of the laptop thats u/s then you can get them for pennies on fleabay-getting them fitted however is another matter as they are one of the first components to be fitted to the laptop and one of the hardest to get to.

There are few situations where the cost of an FAC airgun can be justified-far better to get a .22 or.17HMR as Apache has said.If overkill is a problem you can use .22 shorts and the added range of both guns over the puffgun is incredible. If i were in your shoes i would keep the airgun and put in for a .22 with moderator-you can pick up a scoped CZ model 2 for about £150 and rimfire ammo is as cheap as chips.BTW shooting pheasants with an airgun might be possiblew and i dont think its illegal but it is frowned upon by the vast majority of countrymen-i wouldnt if i were you.

Whats your favourite type of shooting and why?
bruno22rf replied to adam f's topic in General Shooting Matters
Decoying decoy shy pigeons to about 100 yards out in the field then popping them off with a silenced .22-teaches the feathered fiends who,s da man.Otherwise its got to be stalking bunnies with an airgun-so much more challenging than a shotgun or rimfire. -
Try replacing the breach seal before you go down the gas ram road.

We used to have an engineering works at the end of our road who would supply us with nuts and bolts if we asked-we used something like 2 8mm bolts and a nut -put the nut half its thread onto one bolt then put as much red match powder in it as you can-screw the other bolt down gently then throw-of course parents these days would think it dangerous but not many of us got seriously hurt.
-
Could,nt you just empty out a live one and match the powder quantity? When i was a young hooligan i had a .410 that i bought for £4-a folding double hammergun and as i was skint i used to "borrow" 12g shells from a local clay club and reload the .410,s using the components-i used loo paper as wadding and sealed the shells with cardboard and Bostick.Never had any problem with them and they were much quieter than normal shells. How i never blew my fingers off knocking the primers out with a nail and a pair of pliers i will never know.

RWS Subsonic HP .22 any good?
bruno22rf replied to mosa's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
Tend to be greasy and pick up grit easily so carefull how you store them-my cz loves them but not as much as Eley extra. -
Try not concentrating on whats been lost but more on what was gained by both of you when you were out together-if you carry on being down each time you think of him you will eventually lose your memory of the happyness that you shared and that would be a shame. You can share your time and affection with any one of the thousands of dogs out there in rescue land that are facing a needle in the near future-ask yourself what your lost dog would have you do?

Allowing for the fact that most people would prevent any sport that inflicted cruelty to animals-why cant we all join.Imagine the caos we could cause if we were to be a sizable portion of their clan. And just how credible would an orginisation such as this be if it were leaked to the press, after a while.that many supporters were the very hunters that they are trying to ban?-bit like the KKK being run by Nelson Mandella.I wonder how the public would see them if the hunters in amoungst them were to reveal that any donations made to the League had been funded by the sale of dead game/vermin?Just a thought.....

He was,nt trying anything new,Highseas,he had allready tried it once and realised that a problem existed-despite this he tried again and then got hurt-thats what a court would hear from the garage defense.

bruno22rf replied to davidTOZ's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
I,ve posted this same answer a few times before-buy a box of Eley extra subs and if you get one miss-fire or one flyer i will pay for the box-dont mess with anything less. -

With all due respect,TheDuncan-you,re rats will not all be gone-the majority will have dispersed when the chickens left the "homestead" but some, depending on available foodsource, will be living with you quite happily.Cats leave dead birds and discarded foodstuffs all over the place and roland thus thrives-i have seen rats and cats feeding from the same bowel in a farmers kitchen-the farm cats hunted young rats all night but rarely tackled a fully grown one.As a footnote-we used to use semi auto 9mm garden guns fitted with laser sights and lamps to shoot over a hundred rats most friday evenings-most impressive sight was if you shot one down from the rafters into the pig pens-they were promptly eaten alive as were any that were shot on the run but managed to make it back amoungst the colony.Redarding which pet is the better-my spaniel sleeps for 10-12 hours without getting up and spends the rest of his day either eating or producing odours-maybe i should get a moggy after all.
