  1. I think the word WOW just about describes this rifle-wish i could afford it.
  2. No offence taken whatsoever. But my point is simply-you need experience before you can hope to give an opinion on any matter.Reading books is great but it does,nt give you the same knowledge as standing under a tree for hours trying to drop pigeons as they swing in the upper branches or crawling thru wet grass for half an hour trying to pop that nervous rabbit.I have friends who compete in the Lombard Rally and talk for hours on end about it but that does,nt make me a good driver nor does it put me in a position to give an opinion on which engine is best (I can tell you which engine "they" think is)As for swotting up on terminal balistics again very impressive stuff and i,m glad that you are dedicated to such an extent but read this one line penned by your truly "If an airgun is as close to the legal limit as possible then a .22 is just as deadly in the field as its smaller cousin".Now i,ve been shooting for over 35 years(feel free to yawn) and been an instructor on airguns for quite a few and have hopefully picked up a couple of clues along the way.Ever been in a barn full of rats?-i have more times than i care to remember and if i could lay my hands on a .50 calibre airgun then i would have used it.There are many occasions where the larger calibre is desirable and this is the point i,m so determined to make.To sweep it under the table with such a bold statement as your initial post is daft at best.Next time i get a call regarding rat infestation i,ll give you a call ,and a 4.5 rifle ,then sit outside the foodshed and listen to you change your mind about the .22.
  3. "If you want me to substantiate...."-Yep-waiting here bright eyed and bushy tailed.I,m dying to hear the wealth of knowledge that you have gained since joining this site 2 days ago and admitting to having limited experience with a spring powered airgun and a .22 rimmie.Excuse my sledgehammer manner but your initial statement was so blinkered.
  4. If you bide your time and buy second hand then a tank is a wise investment.Go for a 3ltr 300 bar and you dont have to worry about lugging a huge lump about.Bought mine for £75 in alluminium-decant kit was £25 off this site and adapter came with the gun.Of the guns you mention i would personally go for the AA s410 because they are common and theres plenty to choose from-plus i,ve not heard many people say bad things about them-i,ve had 3 different guns from the AA stable and been amazed at the Icapabilities and quality of them.PIGEON POPPER=would love to read the reasons why you have come to your conclusions i.e. "cant see the point of anything larger than a .177 in a sub 12 flb airgun"
  5. On my motorbike i cut the end off an old speedo cable and put it into a drill-connected it to the speedo and run it in reverse-takes a long time though.
  6. I would use something like EN56-fairly easy to machine and polish but very hard wearing-but im guessing that, as most scopes are alluminium tubes, anything harder than ally is overkill? You could try Aircraft grade Alluminium but again-bit exotic.

    How long

Anyone know the world record?-over 18 minutes last time i looked. :o
  9. I,m with pimpkiller on this one-if you have a popular gun at a fair price it will sell all day long.Private sellers need to realise that many dealers are cutting prices to the bone to drum up trade and the ability to offer a warranty on ,say, a PCP is a huge bonus.
  10. As title-Jack Hargreaves "Out of Town" series in a boxed set of 9-as new condition-£60 inc recorded delivery to UK only.
  11. The manual is easily to download and should give you lube advice-if not then speak to Red beck farm air rifles where Paul Hogan now works (designer). As for your scope mounts it sounds like you need a 30mm set-not that pricey on fleabay and as the gun is recoil free you only need a basic set.Lubing the pellets is suposed to not only increase the accuracy but also helps them to cycle more smoothly/reliably-a must on most Loguns-again the oil is not very expensive on the bay and it only takes 5 minutes to do a tin.Not sure on air loss if you constantly remove the bottle as i dont own a s16 but i would have thought that the practice would wear the seals out rather quicker than usual.
  12. For every rat you see during the day you will see ten-fold at night. If the feeder is filled at a particular time of day, however, that might be a good time to break your duck.Make sure you are in position before filling time and use something like peanut butter to tempt them to stay still long enough to shoot.I would guess that as darkness falls the little pests will travel from quite a distance to feed if you have a fairly isolated food source-if so i would try putting a low powered light over the feeder for a week or so to get them accustomed to it and then ambush them-i doubt that you will get huge numbers but it can be exciting shooting when things go as planned. When you shoot your first one leave it where it is-moving around causes a major disturbance and could kill your sport for the night.Take something like pliers to pick the dead ones up and put an extra shot into them from close range before you go near them but avoid getting too close as blood splatter can be nasty.
  13. IMHO screwfix prices have risen and quality/customer service has fallen since the company was sold.My local branch employs a guy to simply walk around the store all day putting things straight on shelves-he looks brain dead and the store is tiny.Dont use them anymore-buy from fleabay.
  14. Totally agree with every word that Blunderbust said-could,nt have put it better myself. The best gun between a normal springer and a gas ram is definatly a PCP.
  15. With our constant diet of doom and gloom its great to hear from someone who is happy and glad to just be.Long may you enjoy your time and remember -"live" every day of your life.Nice post mate and most welcome.
  16. Gone pending collection to chrisjpainter
  17. My local gunsmith charged me £15
  18. I live a couple of doors away from a springer man (and we are talking top class champion breeder/trainer) who feeds his dogs on cheap Lidl tripe dog food when not working and then switches as the season starts. His theory is that theres no need to put rocket fuel in something thats not flying.
  19. These were great guns and there,s stil loads of them going strong.Price seems to depend 99% on condition-i,ve seen them on this site for £50 and elsewhere for less but some of the better ones are around the £120+ mark in dealers. Both sights need to be present and correct-the front sight has a built in bead from memory but no protection and many were broken off and then filed to a point.
  20. I have a 10 ltr 200Bar cylinder with DIN valve-out of test but in vgc and should pass easily-free to first person who wants to collect it from Winslow in Bucks. Please state on this thread that you want it and pm me as well.
  21. Much as i,ve spent many happy years of Weirauch ownership i have to be honest and admit that the TX200 i owned out performed them all in one way or another. The gun oozes quality and is very gentle and smooth to shoot-AA have obviously got the internal specs spot on and you sometimes need to chrono the gun to convince yourself that its a full power rifle. They are heavy which can be a benefit but the balance is superb-as for a scope i think that the gentle firing cycle would allow most reasonable quality units to be used-pop a one piece mount on with arrestor pins and you will most likely never have to worry about zero shift.Because of the quality they tend to hold their value-bit of a ****** now but pays dividends when you come to sell.If PCP,s were banned tommorow i would be hard pressed to think of any other rifle to buy.
  22. Isnt there normally a small red or green light that comes on when AC power is plugged in?-if it turns out to be the input socket of the laptop thats u/s then you can get them for pennies on fleabay-getting them fitted however is another matter as they are one of the first components to be fitted to the laptop and one of the hardest to get to.
  23. There are few situations where the cost of an FAC airgun can be justified-far better to get a .22 or.17HMR as Apache has said.If overkill is a problem you can use .22 shorts and the added range of both guns over the puffgun is incredible. If i were in your shoes i would keep the airgun and put in for a .22 with moderator-you can pick up a scoped CZ model 2 for about £150 and rimfire ammo is as cheap as chips.BTW shooting pheasants with an airgun might be possiblew and i dont think its illegal but it is frowned upon by the vast majority of countrymen-i wouldnt if i were you.
  24. Decoying decoy shy pigeons to about 100 yards out in the field then popping them off with a silenced .22-teaches the feathered fiends who,s da man.Otherwise its got to be stalking bunnies with an airgun-so much more challenging than a shotgun or rimfire.
  25. Try replacing the breach seal before you go down the gas ram road.
