  1. I always had salt on mine untill I found I was putting nearly two teaspoons full on in order to get enough flavour, so in order to change the habit, I now soak it overnight in water and add a small amount of dried fruit, either raisins or sultanas this makes it less bland and hopefully stays healthy LOTW
  2. Vlandy ask,s why the four mile osr exclusion. Well I am willing to subcribe to the theory that the crash of hives that has been recently experienced is due to the systemic insecticides used to treat the seed evetually finding it,s way into the honey and necter.I do not think it a coincidence that bee,s kept in urban area,s are thriving. That is one reason, another, is being able to put succesive supers on without the danger of honey setting in the comb,LOTW
  3. The only way I would consider keeping bee,s again is if I could keep them where there was no rape grown within a four mile radius. If you are really serious you could do worse than start by building your own hives, you could probably still get plans from whatever has replaced the the old MAFF, you will learn a lot about bee,s by doing that, you will also discover whether it was just a thought or not. Thats how I started, got frames in the flat from a local supplier. But what really makes the whole enterprise serious and expensive is what is needed to get the honey from the hive to a jar. It,s a pain LOTW
  4. I think that those remarks say more about you than they do about Joan Sutherland LOTW
  5. It must be twenty years or more since stubble burning was stopped, in that time there must have been tons and tons of straw of one kind or another returned to the soil, I.m curious to know if there has been a measurable improvment in the condition and structure of the soil. I,m sure that this will be of interest to many. LOTW
  6. I bought a sbs called master about thirty five year ago from a mail order cataloque, and if memory serves me right, it was made by the spanish firm Ugartchea, LOTW
  7. I have two Franchi o/u,s, a 20 bore and a 12 bore. There are the same markings on both sets of barrels. The bottom barrel has yyyy and the top barrel has yy. As both guns are around thirty years old I am, and Italian, I am presuming that the yyyy is quarter choke and that the yy is three quarter. I have tried to find out on the net but could only find charts on some American sites. Can someone confirm this. many thanks LOTW
  8. Don,t watch ITV1, the England game is on that without having to pay the BBC anything. Perhaps you should tell the sponsers and advertisers how disapointed you are. LOTW
  9. Hang on a minute, I thought that the election was the device to seek public opinion, this smells like a cop out, why would the eton party offer a referendum like this when they are oppossed to all other referendi. LOTW
  10. I think the new unelected prime minister will find it difficult to follow Mrs Thatcher, she has already used the oil and sold the family silver, all those industries that she munificently gave back to the british people now belong to, in the most part, to foreign investors
  11. Could the previous food supply have been cut off somewhat by the extensive use of wheely bins, making them bolder in their search for food LOTW
  12. I think if I was being asked for an opinion then that is what I would give, and refuse to get caught in a debate, one in which the media does it,s best to keep on the boil. LOTW
  13. Hello. I don,t know how to measure reels, I just wanted to alert you to the fact that some of the early Hardy reels are quite valuable. Hardy gear generally has a number, or set of numbers on it, if you get in touch with them ( they regularly advertise in the angling press.) they will probably be able to tell you the size, and possably the year it was made. I know that one was sold on ebay for over £2000 so do be careful LOTW
  14. When I was young the in thing for cleaning of any tar based product was butter, worth a try. LOTW
  15. I sent you a PM. I have dealt with this gent a couple of times He,s very fair, and is based in Cambridgeshire. LOTW
  16. Rules were made for the guidence of the wise, and the obedience of fools. LOTW
  17. Tesco,s sell them all. LOTW
  18. Should sitting in a high seat be called stalking? Would,nt "ambushing" or "waylaying" be a better discription? LOTW
  19. Hoping to look at a couple of Vatara,s over the weekend, one in on a T reg and the other is an R, they are both on 92K, and both are around the £1600 mark, and both are in dealers yards with service history. Are they over priced for the years? I have no experiance of 4x4,s. I really want something to get me a little nearer to where I want to decoy as I,m getting on a bit and now find it difficult to carry my gear any distance. I will not be doing much over 6K a year, I would value your opinions. LOTW
  20. My son and his wife bought me a Bradley Smoke Generator as a Chritmas present. Has any one used one? What is the best way to use it? Putting it together does,nt look that difficult, but any pointers would be appreciated
  21. Chad has the right idea, peoples taste in music is as individual as their fingerprints, so anything that leads you into new area,s of interest has to be of benefit. I,ve found that as I,ve got older, my taste has changed, and while I hesitate in making this suggetion, as you probably would not agree with me ! you may be able to give your eye,s and ear,s a treat by going into Youtube look for Genia Kuhmeier singing Mozart.s Laudate Dominum, or Lucia Popp and Gundula Janowitz singing the ""Sull Aria" , again mozart. Anyhow each to his own LOTW
  22. There is no one more digusted with Henry, than Henry, an awful pity, he knows he has put himself right down to the level of Maradona LOTW
  23. Mr Gough-Thomas who use to review guns in the Shooting Times thought highly of these guns, If memory serves there were two models the Black Sabel, and the Silver Sabel. You may be able to access these reviews on the S/T website. Going by the configuration of the triggers this looks like a true L/H sidelock. Are you left-handed?LOTW
  24. Franchi,s do a good lightweight gun, I think it,s called a Falconet! It weights 6lbs 1oz with a 28 or 30grm cartridge you could shoot all day. Believe me, you need to be doing a lot of shooting to justify the difference between £300 and a £1000 for what is basically the same tool, or have the disposable income to accomodate it. LOTW
