  1. What is the maximum internal height. e.g. will it take a 51" shotgun?
  2. It's an extractor claw and is available at MidwayUK for about £14, you may need a new spring for it too unless the old one is still in there. Sorry, I don't have any.
  3. SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD I am having a clear out as I have sold the Remys. I had an 1100 and 11-87 so I'm not sure what bits are from what but they are pretty much interchangable. If you are buying you know what I mean. Stock and Forend - wood, tatty and could probably do with stripping. Action Spring - brand new Magazine spring - needs a rub over to clean a couple of spots of rust. Possibly out of an extension tube so would need trimming for a 3/5 shot mag Choke - modified BNIB Choke key - BNIB Staking tool - for fixing those pesky springs into the receiver. Also good for the interceptor latch spring and other uses. Interceptor latch & spring - used New Washers and an old piston Any other bits I find I'll chuck in too. £65 the lot inc postage - PM for more info
  4. You can just start using petrol again but if it was fitted properly the engine would have been retuned to run on gas so this would need attention. If I run out of gas I get about 10 miles before the emission warning light comes on. It will run OK like this but would fail an MOT with ease.
  5. Thanks for pointing that out Hawkey, I'll be sure to read more carefully next time.
  6. The lube is for the upper engine parts that would normally be lubricated by the oils in the fuel but are absent in gas. I do 8k miles per year just to get to work and probably another 4k+ for leisure so I will get the benefit by sometime next year. LPG is not for everyone but it works for me. Do your sums and talk to serveral fitters to see what sounds best to you before you make any decisions or part with cash.
  7. I have had two N95s and wish they still sold them as the second one is tired. N97s are OK but you might get fed up with the touchscreen dial pad. Take a look at the N85s that's probably my next one.
  8. I have petrol 3ltr Shogun Sport I had converted to LPG earlier in the year. It cost me about £2000 and should take about 18/24 months to recoup the outlay. On petrol I could on average get 250 mles per tank and on LPG about 200 miles. To fill up on petrol is about £60 and on LPG £25 I used to cost £50 to get to work but now it's £20. There is a slight loss in performance but I don't really notice it much. Make sure they add a lube kit, even if they say you don't need one (to save install costs). Without the extra lube (or lubricants in the fuel) it will wreck the engine.
  9. Shooting pigeons/wabbits Practical shotgun/rifle/pistol Reloading for the above Amateur Radio (cos all that testosterone needs balacing by some uber nerdiness)
  10. LPG for the Shogun 51.4 @ Total
  11. I keep the bird/buck shot on high shelf but the slug goes in a safe.
  12. It doesn't matter what you are carrying, it is far better to avoid altercations with armed undesirables in the middle of the night. How do you think the poilice would view a firefight between you and the poachers, even if you came out of it uninjured? No medals for killing insurgent hare corsers Our local keeper often comes accross men with dogs in the early mornings and has all sorts of threats made against him for chasing them off with the help of the farm hands. You did the right thing to call for confirmation and not get involved. You could get hurt, killed or worse, lose your FAC.
  13. I use a Frosts Clipper I bought at the game fair a couple of years ago for £8. Nuthin fancy but good for pigeon, bunnies and deer.
  14. His dad says ""He swears blind that he's never met her or seen her. He's not the kind of lad that gets himself in trouble – he's a kind-hearted, generous boy." So, what was he doing with his pants down in a bar to enable a girl to cover his nuts in Sambuca and set light to it? Mind you, he is from Swindon. I expect it's the norm there
  15. I have had a pair of Hi-Tec Magnums for a few years and they have never let me down. There have been cold wet nights where the only thing warm and dry were my feet.
  16. Try Ordinance Survey Explore service where you can map cross country routes ans well as roads
  17. I think Edgar Borthers are the UK Remington main dealer. They may only deal with trade but will give advice and point you at a RFD they can deal with.
  18. Although it is better to have a clean record, if you fall outside of Section 21 of the firearms act 1968 you should be OK. This is the form you have to complete when joining clubs or using some ranges. The general gist is you can't have a gun you are: (1) A person who has been sentenced to preventative detention, or to imprisonment or to corrective training for a term of three years or more, or who has been sentenced to be detained for such a term in a young offenders institution in Scotland, shall not at any time have a firearm or ammunition in his possession. (2) A person who has been sentenced to borstal training, to corrective training for less than three years or to imprisonment for a term of three months or more but less than three years, or who has been sentenced to be detained for such a term in a detention centre or in a young offenders institution in Scotland, shall not at any time before the expiration of the period of five years from the date of release have a firearm or ammunition in his possession. (3) A person who— (a) is the holder of a licence issued under section 53 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 or section 57 of the Children and Young Persons (Scotland) Act 1937 (which sections provide for the detention of children and young persons convicted of serious crime, but enable them to be discharged on licence by the Secretary of State) ; or (B) is subject to a recognisance to keep the peace or to be of good behaviour, a condition of which is that he shall not possess, use or carry a firearm, or is subject to a probation order containing a requirement that he shall not possess, use or carry a firearm ; or © has, in Scotland, been ordained to find caution a condition of which is that he shall not possess, use or carry a firearm ; shall not, at any time during which he holds the licence or is so subject or has been so ordained, have a firearm or ammunition in his possession. (4) It is an offence for a person to contravene any of the foregoing provisions of this section. (5) It is an offence for a person to sell or transfer a firearm or ammunition to, or to repair, test or prove a firearm or ammunition for, a person whom he knows or reasonable ground for believing to be prohibited by this section from having a firearm or ammunition in his possession. (6) A person prohibited under subsection (1), (2) or (3) of this section from having in his possession a firearm or ammunition may apply to quarter sessions or, in Scotland, in accordance with Act of Sederunt to the sheriff for a removal of the prohibition ; and if the applicant is granted that prohibition shall not then apply to him. (7) Schedule 3 to this Act shall have effect with respect to the courts with jurisdiction to entertain an application under this section and to the procedure appertaining thereto. So if you are not too shady, have kept out to trouble for a while and give the FEO the impression you are responsible you should get the ticket.
  19. It can be more trouble that it's worth unless you are talking about more expensive guns. I attended a FrontSight course in Nevada last year where I was given a Springfield XD as part of the package. I found an FFL with an export licence willing to get is shipped to Northern Ireland for me but it was going to cost $350 USD to him plus another £150 GBP duty to import it this end. (In the end I sold it to another trainee for $450). The export price was going to be about the same if it was a big ticket gun it may be worth it but not for your average gun. Also there will be import duty as it is outside the EU.
  20. I would also ask for a Section 1 shotgun (pigeons) and .243 (Fox/deer). They may refuse but if you don't ask you don't get and both have valid use for vermin control. They can't turn down the others even if they refuse one or some. Don't forget to request a moderator for each rife too.
  21. Contact the UKPSA via their website. They are the UK region of IPSC with is the international body. Most police authorities will want to see membership of before granting slug for target. Competitions in the UK mainland are mainly shotgun (PSG), or LBR/LBP with some .22 minirifle. In NI there is still practical pistol but you need to be a resident or belong to a club out there. Before you can start you will need to complete and pass a safety course. These are ususally run over weekends at various locations in the UK. IM me for more info on who to contact for courses.
  22. Here is a pick of me with some novel gloves aquired with the help of a .22 rimfire in the wilds of NZ.
