  1. Just been to Sealand for the first time in ages. Such a lovely clay ground. I've got to the point where my son is shooting better than I am 🙄

I was on Croagh Patrick in Ireland and saw a couple of fellas walking up barefoot. I was descending Ben Nevis in July 2002, the conditions at the top weren't great, still some snow, and met the standard family in trainers with a carrier bag of sandwiches. It's the only time I've ever given 'advice' on a mountain. I was tempted to given it the Don Whillans treatment. "Are you going to the top? Aye, you might be going higher than you think!"

I've only gone up Eryri (Snowdon) once, up the Pyg track and down the Llanberis path. I read a report recently that the path that follows the railway (cant remember the name) has human excrement on it. Loads of other decent, less crowded places to go: Carneddau, Glyders, Cnicht, Moel Siabod etc. The only time I'm ever going near Snowdon again is to go up the Watkin path to see where they filmed Carry On Up The Khyber!
  4. Hi, any suggestions on how to kill off Poplar stumps. The trees were felled a little while ago but the stumps are starting to grow again. Cheers
  5. ...King ****, Britool, Elora, Gedore... Most tools will last if you don't abuse them.

One minute you're pricing up an exhaust manifold for a Grey Fergie, then whoops a daisy, mounds of naked, writhing flesh. Yeah, right. That was never gonna work.
  10. I've got quite a shelf of polar exploration; Herbert, Mawson, Fuchs etc. But I've always admired the story of Endurance, Shackleton and the crew. I've got a book of the expedition photographs, they're amazing.
  11. Happened to me a number of years ago, never really healed properly. This coupled with tendonitis and early onset arthritis all in my righ shoulder means that I don't shhot as much these days.
  12. Had a bamboo t-shirt once, a gift of a g/f. It disintegrated over time... ...so did the t-shirt.
  13. From looking at the maps it seems that you cross the LEZ to reach the ULEZ. I had no idea that you had to pay so many times.
  14. Trust me, I won't be rushing back there...
  15. Hi I've dropped my daughter off in London (Stoke Newington) today then cut across the city centre to get on the M40 I've just paid the ULEZ and the Congestion charges, do I have to pay the LEZ as well? I certainly dont want a fine. Thanks for any advice. (Apologies to the mods if this is in the wrong section)
  16. Have a read up about Tiger Seal, it's used a lot in the automotive trade.
  17. I found a few whilst tidying up. I taped them to a piece of card and posted them through the door of my bank with a paying in slip in an envelope. They were credited to my account with no problem.
  18. I think 2 5/8" is an obsolete calibre for 10g. You may have to reload your own?

    RIP Hardy Kruger

'Mad Mike' Hoare was an advisor on the film, one of his soldiers in Africa was a colourful character called 'Congo' Müller, a German mercenary who wore his Iron Cross on parade!

  21. Greater Manchester is going the same way in or around May this year. My private van (not used for trade) and car have the same engine. Yep, you guessed it, the van will cost £10 per day, the car zilch.
  22. I used to love using SLRs for photography.
  23. She's been found guilty, serves her right. My thoughts are with the people who've suffered as a result of her selfish actions. If Mr Andrew Windsor is complicit then he needs to face trial too.
  24. Would it be easier to get hold of a .410 and use 2" cartridges??
