  1. I've used a number of people for welding and none have added this on specifically! It's just another business cost that is reflected in the hourly rate.
  2. Your reference of section 6 (b) does not tally with the link? My reading of the act is: So it makes NO difference carrying a firearm in a public place with ammo in a magazine, in a box or one up the spout!

    Eka swingblade

I have a brand new one, with orange handle. Got a nice Kydex sheath with it. £50 posted
  4. IF the fox is down a badger set it is a criminal offence to interfere with such a set. IF they don't have permission it's armed trespass. It's not nice for kids to see something shot in such a way - restrained and so close up. That's not a nice introduction to country sports, or something to show a child. I'm sure there are better ways of dealing with the problem. This sort of thing tarnishes us all (although it is in no way 'sport'). The act is legal but borderline cruel, IMO. It is a criminal offence to cause unnecessary suffering to ANY animal. Does a fox being dug out of a hold suffer unnecessarily? It doesn't when my 22-250 goes 'bang'............
  5. Are they entire? I've had similar situations improve by spaying one or both. There is a lot you can do to establish the dogs place in the pack. Decide who you want as top dog. Always (absolutely without fail) greet her first. Make the other dog sit and wait. Feed the top dog first. You can give top dog privileges that the other dog doesn't have. You need to persevere, but it can work very well. It's not embarrassing to seek the experience of a professional dog trainer, but I'd remove the hormonal influence too if it was my problem.
  6. I'll throw a spanner in the works and say get a game gun and shoot clays with 21G cartridges. My first gun was a sporter as I shot more clays. Got invited on 2 game shoots and arm ached carting the lump of the gun about so have a lighter game gun in addition. I'd rather shoot clays with a game gun (with lighter cartridges) than lug a heavy sporter around a shoot.
  7. What's the gun. If It's GMK could be a long wait! (from experience)
  8. Pay him now and take the gun when you get the paperwork. As long as you don't have a sorted past you'll get the cert granted. I can see why you would ring up, but if people do then you are tying people up dealing with calls who could be getting certificates out. I'm not sure ringing them is helping. Obviously grants go to the bottom of the pile.
  9. I bought the M2 because it holds more cartridges...........
  10. Household flea spray should do the job. Vacuum the car first and spray all areas paying attention to nooks and crannies. The product persists for 12 months so will kill new introductions. eg http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Staykill-Household-Flea-Spray-500ml-Six-Months-Protection-/350964407167?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Steamers_Cookers_PP&hash=item51b71bdb7f
  11. You don't need to castrate them early. I am quite happy letting them reaching full adult size. The theory is the testicle is designed to run at below body temperature and prolonged exposure (years) to core body temperature can cause changes than can lead to cancer. It would be great if the Kennel Club took some initiative and did prohibit the registration of puppies from such dogs. They are slowly coming round to things. We are now supposed to report bitch caesareans done on registered dogs.
  12. Breeding from a cryptorchid dog is irresponsible - there is much better evidence that the conditions is inherited. I would never agree to remove just the one testicle. I have seen cancerous testicles and I know of cases of testicular torsion of the retained testicle. There are lots of good dogs out there, irresponsible breeding of animals that are showing signs of a possibly inherited condition should not be bred from. Period. I don't doubt for a second there are all sorts of people who seem to have 'got away with it'. It doesn't make it right.
  13. The Jersey pistol club is very friendly, but it does take a bit of finding. Dirt road and keep going........... http://www.jerseypistolclub.info/ Welcome to the OP - love the Channel Islands.
  14. He's been a busy bunny - mine arrived today also Seems good, will see how I get on once rifle zero'd and get out to play properly.
  15. My bolts live in my rifles. The only time I take them out is if leaving the rifle in the car. Taking the bolt out unnecessarily risks you losing it, in my case risks mixing them up and they always pick up fluff and chaff from my pocket.... Perfectly legal
  16. I've been a few times as a guest on a pheasant shoot and there's one bloke where you practically have to......... (I have a Seeland reversable hat - I turn it from green to orange if next to him!)
  17. Nah - you've got the wrong one, it's Capricorn rising from Uranus...........
  18. I cut two thick brush shafts into 3 pieces and so now can store 6 pairs of wellies in the floor space that used to take 3 (3 each way up)
  19. I don't shoot targets, but my FAC does not distinguish that the ammo is expending or not. That is granted separately in a condition. I disagree with the above and would add it all together. How much range work do you do? I've got 300 CF and 1200 RF so I'd go with that unless you will get through lots down at the range then ask for more. So long as you can justify your reasoning. It would be daft to be allowed 200 solid and 100 expending and you want to buy 100 rounds of .223 ammo on offer but you have a box full left and can't.
  20. There is little known about the heritability of such things - it seems to be a combination of the dog and bitch's genes. I too have seen litters with multiple affected puppies. You could argue the others in the litter may be carriers, but not affected. Realistically not breeding from affected animals is about the best we can do. (incidentally your dog with a retained testicle needs castrating - there is a very high chance of the retained testicle turning cancerous and killing the dog)
  21. You guys seem to have missed how the CENS company works. They have agents who often sell hearing aids, but some specialise in shooting hearing protection. The agent takes the impressions of your ear and sends them to CENS. You pay the agent directly. The item them arrived through the post from CENS. If you guys want a discount you will need to try and tie down a single agent and see if they will do a bulk deal.
  22. Not always congenital but many seem to follow family lines. I believe bitches chewing cords is over-used as an excuse by breeders for selling puppies with congenital abnormalities. If you are buying a dog and intend to possibly breed from it, then DO NOT buy one with a hernia. If you are buying the dog as a pet then it makes no difference, although if I was purchasing such a puppy I'd negotiate a discount. Many umbilical hernias don't require surgical correction.
  23. It's been described a few times. Expect the horror stories of blown up guns etc. I wouldn't worry, myself.
