  1. Treated him with frontline when we got back (just before I found the first tick) Just found another 3 on areas already checked. Using O'Tom tick removing hook and done a little reading on symptoms of Lyme disease.
  2. Just taken 4 more off, know what you mean about giving the creeps I keep itching every couple of minutes.
  3. just removed another one taking it to 11.
  4. During the course of today I've removed 10 ticks of varying sizes from the dog, got back from Scotland on Saturday night. Expect to find more as the week goes on. Whats the most removed from one dog following one 'outing'?
  5. I am involved with horses on a daily basis but not race horses. Horse racing is a vital part of the rural economy as previously stated, granted it does little in terms of direct enviromental improvements but racing does provide support through the horse race betting levy board to rare breeds such as the shire, clydesdale and suffolk punch. Breeds of horses on which this country was built for years and who are now at risk on the rare breeds register.
  6. Diesel at Strontian North West Scotland yesterday was £157.9 per litre, I only bought £20 to get me to Fort William where Morrisons was £139.9
  7. Best wishes to the two victims, hope they make a full recovery. As for the Anti gun lobby, it is likely to be a hand gun that was used, which after all have already been banned, so what do they propose, ban them again?
  8. The advert is a typical example of how standards in this country have fallen to an all time low. Many people have no pride in anything they do, whether that may be spelling, driving, raising their children, training their dogs or even their personal appearence.
  9. James lathams used to sell specialist boards including boards suitable for commercial vehicle floors - loads to choose from.
  10. Makes my blood boil! heard on radio Ed Milliband joining the protests in hyde park. He's one of the ********* thats helped put the country on the brink of financial and social ruin. Both me and the misses could be subject to the public service cuts but I don't blame the coalition I blame the last Labour government, who when faced with spiralling debt decides to waste millions they just didn't have, on projects that weren't necessary and no-one wanted under the pretence of 'fiscal stimulas'. All it achieved was putting the country further down the slippery slope making it even harder for any elected government to resolve the situation, may be I'm crediting them with too much inteligence but could this have been a deliberate ploy to **** the country beyond repair allowing them to be re-elected at the next general election?
  11. Might open a can of worms here but.... I'm sure that the remaps or chip upgrades do give an increase in performance or even better fuel economy but whats the trade off? Surely if it was that easy a multi million pound company like Landrover with a massive research and development budget would have done it already. I'm dubious as to how a small motor engineering company can get so much more out of an engine just by alterring electronic settings than the origional manufacturer could.
  12. I remember removing the rear bumper on a 300tdi (to fit a tow bar I think) and it wasn't a big job just a couple of bolts If I remember right.
  13. I've always thought the Toyota MR2 mk11 might be a classic one day, with its mid engine and sports styling it always looked the part. don't know if they live up to the image, never owned one and I'd guess finding a good mint example might be like looking for rocking horse poo.
  14. As a country we are skint. Our armed forces are over stretched both in terms of man power and equipment. If we were to get involved we'd end up paying more tax just to pay for it. One of the reason that the country is as broke as it is, is the fact we have been involved in military operations in Iraq or Afghanistan for nearly 10 years. History tells us that fighting wars are expensive, I can remember just after Labour came to power making the announcement that they had finally paid off the debt owed to the USA from WW2. Everybody blames the bankers for the mess we're in but its the labour government who spent billions if not trillions fighting goatherds and fanatics in the desert. Just think if the money hadn't been wasted on these wars we probably wouldn't be looking at all the cuts and tax rises we are at the minute. Let the Arabs sort it out themselves.
  15. Sound advice, 7 day letter with the threat of court action. If limited company search companies house website for names and address of directors send letter by recorded post to home address and registered address of company (might be an accountants address) This usually makes them wake up. Point to bear in mind there's more pubs shut down in our area than ever before, he might be in difficulty so suggestions of sending tramps round or damaging his trade might be counter productive to you getting paid. But with that in mind I would be sending the letter first thing tommorrow even by fax and e-mail. Expect a phone call asking for flexibility and more time but be firm and quote the length of time already waited. DO NOT extend the 7 days and see it through, include copies of the invoice. If bailiffs have to be sent in they will need to take 3 times the value of the debt plus costs to recover the balance, a point that might be worth mentioning in any telephone call you receive. Best of Luck
  16. I've never liked the look of laminated stocks but someone handed me the savage a few months ago and although I was sceptical the moment I raised the rifle to my shoulder I realised the attraction. It just seemed right, well balanced and didn't feel overly heavy, if I could afford one it would be a serious contender.
  17. I'd use a damp cloth as suggested but would use a hot knife as opposed to an iron, much more control of heat and less risk of damage.
  18. Old management trick - start a rumour that there will be 50 redundancies and when you anounce that there's to be 20 redundancies everyone feel's relieved that its not as bad as first thought. Start talking about £2.00 a litre and the price's of £1.35 -£1.50 a litre sounds cheap. And if it doesn't reach £2 everyone feels relieved without focussing on the fact that they're now paying a fortune to get to work. Ive already cut back over recent years, at one time I'd think nothing of having a day at the coast or going for a drive up to t'dales, now its a once every couple of years, don't get me wrong we still have holidays and weekends away but the lets have a run out type thing has been curtailed. Even calculating if its cheaper to drive and park or catch the train to York (works out about the same).
  19. Once delivering to a farm a few years ago, having knocked on the door I turned to find a mastif type dog barking and growling. Most guard dogs stand off a yard-not this lad I could feel his breath on my nether regions. He is between me and my van so only option is going to be to try and make friends. A gentle stroke of the side of his ear and a few minute we are getting on ok. walked to the front door he's fine turn back towards back door and he's barking and growling again. I dismiss his barking with a friendly word and carry on walking when the owner a 30 something women with a mortified look on her face. Turns out I'm at the wrong farm. Asked the breed of dog and to this day can't remember but described as a Spanish fighting dog- she then wen't on to say 'they usually make good guard dogs!' I explained dogs don't bother me but this one got me a little concerned!! She then tried to sell me one of her pups to which he was the father. Walking back to the van the ****** starts playfully nipping my leg and jumping up. Must admit not the sort of dog i'd want to fall out with.
  20. Glad your happy best wishes.

    Thanks

  21. Wait till he starts with magic tricks and jokes, Has he tried to sell you a grey tweed coat yet?
  22. Been to both Swillington and Redbeck many times, Swillington is cheapest for guns better selection and first class service, but Redbeck is cheapest for cartridges.
  23. Some good wildlife on Ardnamurchan, saw a sea eagle at the ferry to tobermoray, and a young golden eagle near to Strontian. Reasonable priced Venison at John Mcdonald in Acharacle, also a little smoke house up the road. Good food and selection of single Malts at the Loch Inn at Fort Augustus. If your self catering try the fruit pudding (like a suet pudding with sultanas) comes in a breakfast pack with black pudding and lorne sausage. Going up in April looking forward already.
