  1. Colleague on Phone "I'm at work innit!" When he finished the conversation I informed him that he should have said " I'm at work aren't I" his response "its just speak innit". Whenever I'm on the phone to a call centre in Scotland, every sentence seems to end with 'just now'. The other one already mentioned is 'like' and 'lush' usually from teenager 'its like so lush'. Are they talking about the condition of their pasture? ******* lush.
  2. Thanks fella's Decision made I'll be using the 14 day cool off period to send 'em packing. I've just had a letter from BT offering an even better deal so i'll be staying with them and sending Talk Talk Packing. Thanks for the replies so promptly.

    Oh God

First time I flew it was a business trip with a group of suppliers and potential clients so had to display a certain level of self control. Thankfully it was a moderately short flight but it did go over the alps and had quite a steep decent into Graz. Second trip was Spain, the Mrs was petrified even though she has flown to Mexico, Bahamas florida etc. She found entertaining the child sat in front helped. I found looking out of the window and trying to identify where we were was relaxing. How far are you flying?
  4. Been offered a good deal on talk talk if I switch broadband providers to them (currently with BT). Just wondered whats everybody's experience's good or bad.
  5. I'm the Pheasant Feeder because although I do a little game keeping I've no intention of claiming to be a gamekeeper, I don't do enough keepering work or have enough knowledge to class my self as a game keeper. In reality I'm just feeding pheasants.
  6. Had a similar situation the other week, shot falling around where I was. My plan speak to shooter and make them aware of where shot is falling. If an appropriate response received No further action. If abusive make them aware of legal situation and inform that if it continues Police will be informed. Actual events: shot coming from a slightly different area than at first thought, person shooting known to me but was unaware of where his shot was falling, friendly advice given and recieved (new shooter) no further action. I would do the same if it was to happen again.
  7. The best wellies I have owned and still do are a pair of Hunter Torlundy from John Norris think I gave £79.99 for 'em 3-4 years ago. They are as comfy as slippers never let a drop of water in and I tested 'em right up to the highest stitching ( 3/4" from top - long story) I don't think I would have paid the £200 list price but I wish I could lay my hands on a second pair, stopped making them though. Mine are looking tired now they've been caught on barb wire and through the thickest of brambles so I'm weighing up my options as I have x wide calfs. What are the chameu's like around calf?
  8. As said previously You need to report the accident to the police. The Road Traffic Act states that any accident where any one other than the driver in a single vehicle road traffic accident sustains injuries then the accident needs to be reported to the police as soon as is reasonably practicle and in any case within 24 hours. You should have got the name and address of the driver, the name and address of the owner of the vehicle, the vehicle registration mark, make model colour etc. When you report the accident to the police you will need to take your insurance and mot if appropriate. I would contact the driving instructor asking him to furnish you with the required information and also to notify him that you have sustained an injury and that the driver (even on a provisional license) needs to report the accident to his/her local police station as soon as is reasonably practical and in any case within 24 hours. Failure to report the accident is an offence under sec.170 Road Traffic Act. As a driving instructor he should have known all the above and have explained this to his pupil. Best of luck.
  9. I was once asked in Derry " is you's English?" to which I replied "No I'm a Yorkshire man." "Thats alright then big man!" Got me out of a tight spot that night! I'm a Yorkshire man and proud of it. An old yorkshire saying 'there's two sorts of people in this world, them from Yorkshire, and them that wished they were.'
  10. A responsible person who owns any dog takes the time and effort to train the dog. As a nation we have lost the skill in training dogs. I have never attended a dog training class but frequently recieve compliments on the behavoir of my two dogs (German Shepherd's). Growing up my father trained the family dog, from an era when dog training class's didn't exist. Dog's are animals with an animals perspective on every aspect of their life food, toys, space/area etc. It is us as humans who are trying to undo many of a dogs natural behavoirs because they don't fit nicely into our life's. A responsible person will also take the time to educate a child in their care as to what is acceptable and what is not and how to behave around a dog. I see more kids who are allowed to do whatever pleases their little hearts desires with no consideration for the consequenses or how it might affect others, where the prospect of saying NO to a child is unthinkable. Is it any wonder that when children are unaware of what NO or DON'T mean that they cannot be trusted around dogs. Just my humble opinion and directed at society in general not members of this forum.
  11. Easiest to grow I find is : Courgettes, Rocket, lettuce, Tomatoes(buy established plants at this time of year). Perpetual spinach, peas beans, radish, beetroot, radish. Plant what you like to eat, one courgette plant will produce quite a few courgettes, half a dozen plants and you'll be sick of the sight of courgettes. As Hugh Fearnly Whatshisname says all plants want to grow!
  12. I once came across a bloke who had walked from London to Selby area. He set off on Friday afternoon and I ran into him at 6 pm sunday a time of 52 hours and a distance of 180 miles. He must have covered at least 85-90 miles in his first 24 hours because when I found him he was certainly not going at full wack. This sounds like a tall tale but after asking a few questions and judging the state he was in he had really done it. To top it all he had not slept and had only had a bottle of orange and a ham sandwhich to keep him going. Desperation is a hell of a motivator!!
  13. Some of the best ones I saw were, A mercedes in Yorkshire A1 51THE or as Fred Truman would say Al Sithe. and a Range Rover with AR51 GET. Both made me smile
  14. I'll hold my hand up!!! The only time I got points was by average speed cameras around Birch services on the M62 Greater Manchester clocked at 60 in 50 this was back in 2003, so my bet says yes they do work. Watch out for gantry speeds limits around Birmingham some are compulsory and are backed up with camera's or so I'm led to believe. Think it used to be the case on the M25 but not sure. The other thing to watch are the Red 'X's they are sometimes set for an obstruction as well as road works.
  15. Every time I attend a single vehicle road traffic collision on the motorway and it proves fatal it almost always turns out the fatality was not wearing their seat belt. I've seen a Alfa Romeo that has rolled up an embankment and ended up on its roof, and the 4 young lads were stood next to it having a fag and checking their underwear without a mark on 'em all had their seatbelts on. Seatbelts do save lives (as much as I hate to agree but thegovernment are right on this one).
  16. I've driven a Disco 3 for the last 4 1/2 years at work on road and would buy one tomorrow if I had the money. As for off road I did the advanced training course at Coniston Cold (landrover experience) work paid for it)). The places the Disco went I cannot imagine needing to go with a pigeon hide over fields. Perhaps as a keeper but then you wouldn't opt for the disco to cart bags of feed about.
  17. Ive just listed a 3 gun brattonsound on t'e-bay this lunch time. Based in Wakefield.
  18. Gents please see below advert if any one has any suggestions or knows of any land becomming vacant pleae feel free to PM thanks. 19. Did a full day course at Coniston Cold as a training course from work, great fun and beneficial. Having done plenty of off roading previously it was still good fun and there was the odd point to learn. The guys who had never done any off roading before were grinning like idiots and it took a little courage to trust things like engine breaking on steep hill desents (like I said these guys had not driven off road before). The biggest benefit for me was learning the electronic controls and how to get the best out of them. I have owned two disco's (300 tdi and td5) and two 110's. I use the Disco 3 for work and its all electronics. The half day is like an introduction where you get to see the basics and the vehicles capabilities driving over the 'man made obtacles' hill descent and side angle (steeper than you'd expect) and I think the grand finale is the instructor driving you around the advanced course. On our full day we got to drive around the advanced course, over the rock crawl and drive through the water and up steps through tree's and deep ruts, hill climbs etc. The instructor we had was excellent he had done the Paris Dakar, and contributed to many of the landrover enthusiast type magazines certainly knew his stuff. I think most people come away from it realising just how much their motor can do, but its important to remember that the layout has been designed with the vehicles in mind and the skill comes when judging ground on your own. If you own a landrover then its worth trying to upgrade the half day to a fullday even if it costs a little. If not its worth going for the fun of it to drive the latest 4x4's.
  20. You'll only regret the things you didn't do. Tell him to go for it.
