  1. There is no discernable difference at close (Under 15 yards) between any choke as the shot hasn't had time to open. I shoot 3/8 in both barrels and find on close stuff you either miss or annialate them, but you get good long range kills as well.
  2. I hope the TUC are going to weigh out the loss in earnings to the DUCK tour company?
  3. Jaguar, Those crimps are actually finished on a MEC grabber which I cannot get set up to load properly so I only use the final two stages. To get a deeper crimp on the Lee press you need to find a washer that will fit inside the recess of a new 12B cartridge and glue it onto the ram inside the crimp finisher on the Lee press. This will then push the crimp a little deeper. Also if you have the column height wrong you won't get a decent crimp. I have found you need about 7/16" (11mm) of case left above the shot to get a decent one.
  4. What is wrong with just giving up? After all they WILL kill you. I really don't get it. I gave up smoking 20 or so a day about 20 years ago and have never wanted another one since. I just decided one night that I didn't want to smoke anymore and gave up. Will power is the only thing that will make you succeed, nothing else.
  5. Not really, But then why should you understand?
  6. I make no bones about why I shoot, I am honest and shoot because I enjoy doing it. I do not go and shoot pigeons because I feel I am doing the farmer a favour, I shoot them because I want to and also learning the skill of decoying them and what works and what doesn't. Likewise I go Wildfowling because there is no better place to be than on a marsh at first or last light. However I also see that having birds like Canada Geese on the OGL gives anyone the excuse to shoot them whenever they feel like it, not always when they are being a pest. There are a few shooters near me who will take positions around a lake on a golf course in the early evening and shoot every goose that comes in to feed. They have literally shot hundreds but the geese are not being a pest, they go there to drink in the evening and then flight back to a RSPB reserve in the morning. The lakes were there long before the golf course.
  7. If you are finding the Lee Loadall a pain then you haven't got it set up right. I have two of them and I can easily load 100 carts an hour while having the shot maker running at the same time. I have recently bought the second one primarily for crimping 3" cases after I have loaded them with Steel shot for the coming season. I use Gordon system cases (Either Black Gold or Blue Diamond) and I get cartridges that are easily as good as factroy loads, yet about half the price.
  8. If you can do it then shoot from your left shoulder, you will shoot better in the long run by having your dominant eye behind the rib. You can get round shooting with your dominant eye being the left and shooting off your right by using patches / easy hit bead etc but I wouldn't. If it feels completeley alien to you shooting off the left then you will have to look for another solution. As you are only just starting out you have the advantage of not shooting right handed for a long time.
  9. To the rest of us he is a great big pussy as well Sue.
  10. At your age Dan I would have thought you had heard Happy Birthday enough already

    stopping smoking

How about I will buy those 6 pouches from you so you can give up straight away?
  16. Actually the rifle will still move, even if you strap it to a 5 tonne concrete block. All test rigs allow the rifle to move otherwise they give false readings and are no use as a test rig. You really should go back to school and retake your physics exams, as you haven't learnt a damn thing
  17. I have one of these, Barrow
  18. Yes I am sure you have :hmm: I bet you have fairies at the bottom of your garden as well  That is the stupidest thing I have ever read.
  19. Yes I did, I had a leisurely drive to maldon and back to kill the time.
  20. I went to my local club after a row with the missus, I didn't have the right mindset for shooting but finished on a 47/50. Perhaps I should try that sort of preparation more often.
  21. Actually yes it does move, it has to. The recoil will not stop just because the barrel is clamped down. The movement has to go somewhere. Every test rig I have ever used or seen has a way of damping the recoil but still allowing the barrel to act in a normal way.
  22. Oh yes I am trolling, Have you never heard of Newtons third law of motion? If you haven't then let me explain. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore however small the "Subsonic .22" was there would still be recoil. As for machining bullet proof glass into a silencer. Yeah right. The bullet proof glass I have used was several laminations with polymer interlayers. It had to be cut with a diamond saw and gallons and gallons of water. You would never have machined it into a sleeve for a moderator. Still what do I know surrounded by so many EXSPURTS?
  23. Are you sure that isn't the same hole they found Saddam Hussein hiding in?

    London protest

What happened with this protest? I didn't see anything on the news about a million people descending on Westminster. Mind you it was a nice day, perhaps they all went to Clacton
